My vehicle is a 2013 Nissan Rogue SL, and it has a lot of extra features that I had never had in my previous car. It has five seats total, three in the back along with the driver's seat and the passenger's seat. There is a large trunk that opens up to store many different types of cargo. The interior is made up of black leather seats and black carpeting. It is pretty basic in terms of exterior looks. My particular car is silver, and while it doesn't stand out in a crowd, it looks nice on its own. The inside of the car is filled with features that do not come on the basic model. There is a touchscreen system that has built-in GPS features as well as a Bose sound system that is upgraded from the base model in terms of sound quality. The music listening experiences is markedly different i... (more)
Story
I love to load my dogs into the car and take them for hikes during the summer months. There is plenty of space for them to relax and fit safely in the car.
Pros
The Nissan Rogue SL has a nice exterior and a detailed interior that is proof that Nissan pays attention to detail. Black leather seats give the car a sense of luxury that cloth seats simply cannot replicate. The leather has stayed intact through extreme temperatures. There is no sign of wear and tear or any cracks or damage that can sometimes occur with leather seats. There are heated seats in the driver and passenger seats, which is great for cold Northeastern winters. There is a Bose sound system and a touchscreen display that includes a built-in GPS. The leather seats are easy to clean... (more)
Cons
The entirely black interior makes the car extremely hot in the summer months. The leather seats can be difficult as well; they become extremely hot. The driver, as well as other passengers in the car, have difficulty with sticking to the leather seats. The black carpeting is a magnet for pet hair and is very difficult to vacuum. Having pets that frequently ride in the car is a bit of a hassle because it has been difficult to find seat covers that will fit the car properly, so pet hair tends to accumulate in the carpeting despite my best efforts. The gas mileage could be better. Living in a... (more)

I purchased my 2013 Nissan Rogue SV AWD a little more than a year ago. Since then, I have taken it on a 6,000-mile car camping road trip through all manner of terrain, taken it onto the beach camping multiple times, gone through mountains, city, and extreme hot and cold temperatures. It did not disappoint at any time.
Story
I basically lived in my Rogue for a three-week, 6,000-mile car camping challenge. The goal was to only camp in my car (no tent, no hotels, etc.) and camp for free or almost free for the entire trip. I accomplished it comfortably and happily. I'm from South Texas and took it all the way to Canada (in January) and back in a loop through the entire Northeast. It was a champion! I plan to do it ag... (more)
Pros
The gas mileage was acceptable for the size of vehicle and averaged about 350-390 miles on a tank of gas during my harrowing road trip. It has been driven in 100+ temps and below 0 ice and snow. I had no problem with the car during any temperature. It handled snow, ice, and road salt better even than the Jeep I previously owned. It handled sandy beaches without getting "stuck" or bogged. The SUV has all the bells and whistles: leather, navigation, XM radio, heated seats, etc. It's stylish and easy to drive, and even though I am hard on it (including basically living in it for 3 weeks!), it... Cons
My only cons would be that it is a tiny bit small for inside cargo, mostly because of the smaller opening to put things into the back of the vehicles. Later models appear to have tweaked this a bit, but the 2013 has this issue. The length of the cargo area is perfect for me for car camping (sleeping inside), but I am only 5'4", and anyone much taller wouldn't find it as comfortable as I did for this particular issue. Otherwise, I have absolutely no cons and love my Rogue! The only thing I'd give it up for is another Rogue!
