I was able to order my van from the factory through the dealership. I thought that portion was great and it was manufactured to my specifications with color, material, and accessories. I ordered the Aspen Green Pearl 2004 XLE LTD Toyota Sienna with tan leather seats, moon roof, and completed DVD system. I only ordered a Toyota because at the time of purchase it was rated #1 on Consumer reports for safety. The van was equipped with side cushion airbags, traction control etc. It also has rear fold down seats which was a great feature at the time. It served its purpose of transporting a military family around the country every 2 years. Space is important when moving. I was initially very pleased with the purchase. Within months I began having problems. It was sign of things to come. At 17... (more)
Story
The van as literally been from 1 end of this country to the other, but one specific memorable story where the van played a role was at Westport beach in Washington State. We frequently went to the beach with our very young kids, but due to the water temperatures you were just stuck looking for shells or playing in the sand. My husband had just returned from a deployment and we took the kids to... (more)
Pros
I don't have a ton of positive things to say about the vehicle. I do like the rear fold down seats. I do like the safety features of the van. I do like the console between the front seats. I love the color. The front seats are comfortable.
Cons
The 1st row seats are uncomfortable for long van rides. The lower back portion of the seat protrudes outwards a tad bit that causes low back pain while riding. The radio went out on the van 3 times within the first year. When you go over bumps it has a tendency to tune into the AUX versus the radio. The heated front seats were inoperable by the 4th year of ownership and when they were repaired the hard plastic behind the seat kept falling off because they are secured to the seat by plastic clips that almost all broke during the repair. The interior is literally held together like a Lego wi... (more)
