Toyota Sienna - Perfect for Families
We were looking to replace our 2002 Subaru Forester, as we had a second child on the way. While we really liked our Forester, due to the age and changing standards, it was going to be difficult to add a carseat for a second child. We were also cramped for space when traveling so we began looking at the next-size up in terms of SUVs, but none of them seemed to be working for us. At that point we began considering something a little more tailored towards long trips and two or more children, so we began considering the larger SUVs as well as minivans. The larger SUVs had too many drawbacks (gas mileage, awkward use of space, etc.), and so it came down to minivans. We looked at offerings from Toyota, Honda, and Chrysler. We quickly eliminated the Chrysler Town & Country due to price reasons. We then eliminated the Honda Odyssey because it was just not very intuitive for us, and the layout was not quite what we wanted. We ultimately selected the Toyota Sienna as it was roomy, including the third/rear row of seats which would comfortably fit adults, something that was important to us on trips. It was important, because we planned on bringing a parent or friends along on our longer trips.

Great family car
We bought this vehicle because of the room it has. We can easily haul seven people with plenty of room. It is great for a car seat, which was one of our major considerations since we have a young grandson that we pick up from daycare on a fairly regular basis. With the rear seats down and the middle seats moved up, the cargo area of this minivan holds a full size dresser! We used it to help both of our grown children move with no problems. The luggage rack on the roof is also a great feature. Just last week, we secured eight sections of 4 x 8' lattice on the roof with absolutely no problems. Gas mileage is good for a vehicle of this size. We typically get between 21 and 24 miles per gallon, with a lot of in-town driving and traffic. Our grandson's favorite feature is the retractable window shade located in the sliding doors. He uses them for a dual purpose—shading his eyes and also making the trees zipping by not seem quite so scary (he doesn't like to go fast)! This is also a very smooth riding vehicle, with plenty of room to stretch your legs out, dual controls for air conditioning and heat, both for the two passengers in the front and also with a separate control for passengers in the middle and rear seating areas. The only thing I dislike is the fact that sometimes the sliding doors get a little contrary. One day last week, neither door would open. Instead, they just beeped at me when I attempted to open them. We solved the problem by turning the ignition switch off and restarting the car.

Reliable and safe minivan.
Out of all of the minivans we test drove, this was the one model that did not seem like you were driving such a large vehicle. It has a great tight turn radius and handles very easily. We also loved the features this model had on it; the power doors are used far more frequently than I would have imagined and the stow n go seats in back provide a lot more room to pack stuff in! This model also has 8 seats with the middle seat in the middle row stored in the back. The seats are large and comfortable, even for adults to sit in and with all 8 seats full, you still have plenty of room in the extra deep trunk to fit all of your accessories and junk! This van is reliable both in maintenance and in safety and part of the reason we bought it was the Toyota branding behind the name. The Toyota Sienna will run for miles and miles and hold up over time well. This vehicle is heavy enough that winter driving was not an issue and though there is a model with AWD, the extra expense did not seem worth it when we were purchasing it.
