I love my Toyota Sienna! It is a great family car. I love the sliding doors: I can open the doors for my children, or if they open the doors in a parking lot, I don't have to worry about them dinging another car! I love the interior - it is very appealing and the leather has held up SO well to the wear and tear that comes with shuttling kids (and their friends) to school, practices, etc. Also, after 115,000 miles, it has needed very little maintenance other than your typical oil change, air filter change, etc. It is a very dependable car. It is also a very smooth ride. I was afraid driving a minivan would feel like driving a bus, but the Sienna starts and stops so smoothly. It doesn't feel like I'm driving a van sometimes! As far as power, it's still a minivan. It's not going to "get ... (more)
Story
One day, after picking up my kids from school, it started raining. Not just a little bit of rain, either; it was a torrential downpour. Only a minute ago, I had passed a friend who was walking home with her children - rain wasn't in the forecast, so no one had jackets or umbrellas. I quickly turned around, found them, pulled over, and opened the back hatch. The third row just happened to be fo... (more)
Pros
I love the versatility of the folding rear seat! When we have extra passengers, we put it up. We fold it down for nearly the entire summer, because once it's down, we can fit all of our "stuff" for summer swim team in there! Sun canopy, camping chairs, fold-up wagon, etc. Also, when the third row is down, you can fit in one of those giant pool floats - so nice for fun at the pool! One of the other features I like is the push-button start. No more fumbling in my purse for my car keys. As long as I have the keys with me, the car will start! Also, you cannot lock your keys in the Sienna. If y... (more)
Cons
The "road noise" can be quite noisy. When on the highway, it can sound like a window is open due to the how well you can hear the car driving. There's a tool kit in the back for changing a tire, and while that's convenient, some of the tools rattle. That can get very annoying on long drives! Also, on very hot days, the rear a/c can be slow to cool the rear of the van. The wood veneer trim on the front console doesn't look solid or luxurious. I would rather it just not be there, because it's obviously it's not real wood interior.

When our family grew to five and we got this minivan, it was perfect for us. The safety rating mattered a lot, and less road noise is really good. The 8th seat option makes taking friends along a breeze and the trunk space is awesome for our warehouse stock up grocery trips. Even with 2 car seats and a booster, feels like we have enough space and it's not totally occupied. The seats are also easy to move on track; the 8th seat is very easy to put in and take out. And the back seat can be folded down to the floor very easily even by someone who is not a very handy like me. I am on the shorter side, so the automatic trunk close button is a boon instead of making little jumps to pull the trunk door down. The gas mileage that we get is a plus, too.
Story
It was really fun when we took our van to watch a movie in your car kind of a park and watch place. We put the back seat to the floor and put some covering and all five of us piled up in the back to cuddle and watch the movie.. these are the things that make memories we keep for a long while.
Pros
The safety rating that Toyota has with worry free rides for miles and miles to come is the most important thing we liked. There is very little road noise, makes it easy for the kids to have conversations on our road trips as well as take good naps. The seats are very easy to manage and also the 8th seat feature is not only really awesome, but very east to put in and take out. With little kids, not much care is taken of the interior or the seats, but every time we get a thorough clean up or detailing done it looks like brand new again. We would highly recommend this for any family.
Cons
Being on the shorter side, I have to pull up the driver seat pretty close to the steering wheel. Sometimes while getting out my knees will hit the power option button and of course the kids cannot open the door and come out until I get back in the front to push it down again. I wish there was a way to lock it in place or some kind of cover over it.
