Built to last with lots of practical features and a few luxury touches too. This car is perfect for our small, active family. The hatch opening is a great feature to stow groceries, camping gear, or the family dog. The rear seats fold down, which creates more room than you would imagine—you can transport small pieces of furniture, cargo, even lumber. There are good safety features including shoulder belts in the backseat, front and side airbags, and anti-lock brakes. Little features like heated front seats and power mirrors are useful little luxuries.
Story
This little car has taken us to the coast and up into the mountains more times than I can count. It's never let us down.
Pros
I love the hatchback, which adds a lot of extra practicality and transforms this compact sedan into a tiny SUV. The gas mileage is incredible, and the engine is zippy for fast acceleration when needed. It's a perfect balance between down-to-earth usefulness and high-quality German engineering. And the size of the car makes parallel parking a snap because you can fit into even the tiniest spaces.
Cons
This is a small, compact car. While we can comfortably fit myself (5'2"), my ten year old, some groceries, and a dog, my husband (6'2") just barely clears the ceiling, and when his seat is pushed all the way back, there is hardly any leg room at all in the backseat behind him.

With nearly 275,000 miles on my TDI Golf, and with it still hammering down 49+mpg, this car virtually pays for itself. Diesels make more torque and lower on the RPM range, giving the car nice off-the-line acceleration. I will say that my car is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox and I have heard that the automatics in these cars are not nearly as reliable, not to mention do not get quite as good fuel economy. The overall build quality of the car and the fit and finish leave a lot to be desired. My headliner is falling down and I have noticed many cars with similar issues. The rear left power window quit working and there have been a few other issues, but if you maintain these cars they will practically run forever.
Story
Driving for 750 miles on a single tank of gas and then filling it up full for under $30
Pros
Fuel Economy Longevity
Cons
Build quality Fit and finish Require/Recommended Oil for the car is not readily available at most retailers, is expensive, but can be ordered and shipped to you online with ease.
