Amazing mileage, Great car.
This little car is pretty damned amazing. My wife and I have owned it for 3 years total now, and we have put in a little over 40,000 miles on it with very few issues besides standard maintenance stuff. Between the both of us, on some days we will put in 100 miles or so in one day. She uses it for school, and I will use it for my delivery job, and it still is going pretty hard. It runs on diesel, so it gets very good mileage. The golf TDIs are known for their power and excellent braking and crash test ratings. As far as the mileage, in town we get roughly forty three miles to the gallon, and on the free-way, sometimes we will average up to fifty. It may seem small, but it is surprisingly roomy inside. I love the look people get on their faces too when we pull up to the diesel pump and start to pump gas; they are like no way is that thing running on diesel, haha. That is just an added bonus to an already great car. With the price of gas what it is right now, we save a lot of our paycheck with what we could be spending on it. The steel frame is also a nice touch, because it has survived a few fender benders already.

2012 Golf 2.5 Review
I bought my car new in 2011 and am planning to sell it now hopefully this year (2015). Mine was candy white and a 2 door. At the time this was the car I wanted and don't get me wrong this is a great car. I just want something different at the point (something faster and with a manual transmission). Anyways, the Golf as well as all vow's are extremely customizable and have a huge cult following behind them. I did this with my car, put about 7000 dollars worth of upgrades on it and the car looked amazing. As far as the reliability of the car, so far so good. I like the fact you can get the golf in either a 2 door or 4 door. I think VW was lacking big time in technology at the time I bought my car though. No Bluetooth, no multi function steering wheel. No armrest either which was kind of a bummer, I had to buy a retrofit kit. The car isn't that fuel efficient either. 5 Cylinder 2.5 Liter engine, 170 hp, and about 30 mpg on the highway. Not bad but not great. The golf is good for someone who wants a unique and practical car but if you want a hot hatch you need to go with the GTI or R. You wont get the thrills with any golf. The best part about this car is the hatchback style of it. Extremely popular style in Europe and other parts of the world and its nice to have that authentic European style hear in the USA.
