2010 Volkswagen Golf - Great little car.

The VW Golf is a fantastic little car. It has plenty of power, even for the base model, and feels remarkably solid in comparison to other cars in its price bracket. The experience of purchasing from VW is also quite good, as they take care of a great many of the maintenance tasks without charging any additional fees for the first few years of ownership.
Story
I remember driving through the countryside with friends on a starry night, when we realized the sky was glowing oddly. We pulled over to watch the aurora overhead, the first time any of us had ever seen it. Lovely!
Pros
The car is sporty and solid, without being showy. With seats down, it has plenty of storage for your average weekend warrior mountain biker. Everything feels well-considered and high quality, unlike many of the cars in its price bracket, which add many bells and whistles that are gimmicky and chintzy.
Cons
The car really is pretty great, but I've run into a couple of snags. The body panels are showing a bit of rust at only 8 years of age, though I do live in a location with harsh winters. I've also had to replace the brake calipers twice over the years, as they have failed and no longer work smoothly. This never led to a dangerous situation, but it was noisy and unnerving, and did cost a fair amount of money to repair.

2010 Volkswagen Golf - Good reliable car.

I like hatchbacks. The styling of the car is very appealing to my tastes. Compact and efficient is what I look for. The car is very comfortable. It has leather seats and the materials used in the car don't feel cheap. I get great gas mileage from it being a diesel. The performance is great, because it is a turbo diesel. Maintenance is the same as any car. I take it for regular maintenance, but I know diesels will last longer than a normal gas engine.
Story
Not that I can think of.
Pros
I love the technology in the car. Using SD cards for music is pretty awesome and the hands free phone calls. Mileage is great. I get around 45 mpg on the highway. I like the premium feel to the car. It makes me feel good driving something made of quality materials.
Cons
Maintenance is a little pricey and I have to take it someone that knows how to maintenance a diesel. Or at least knows how to work on a VW diesel. The price of diesel gas is higher than normal unleaded. I almost feel buying a hybrid car rather than a diesel is more cost efficient. I wish it was an automatic than a manual sometimes. The price on the premium tires is expensive.
