The Volkswagen GTI is a wonderful car. It appreciate its quickness, its small size, and its ability to carry objects all at the same time. It is a fun car to drive that handles very well. The interior is very cute with the plaid cloth seats of high quality. The car does have an issue with the foam used to glue the interior cloth, though. After about 50,000 miles, the foam will begin to deteriorate and need replacing so that the interior cloth does not fall off the car ceiling or doors. The car also has excellent gas mileage, averaging around 27 mpg for spirited drivers.
Story
I took the vehicle to an autocross once. It was a great experience. The car was very quick and nimble for driving around the tight corners quickly. I easily made good time and didn't have any trouble keeping up with the "pros".
Pros
The vehicle is very quick and fun to drive. It handles well and is very fun to take out on an autocross race where you have to drive quickly around tight corners. The car is also very spacious given it is a hatchback. This last Christmas I was able to fit a 6 ft tree inside the car to bring home.
Cons
The car's interior did begin to fall apart after a period of time. It wasn't too expensive to fix, but it never looked quite the same. While it is very roomy for it's size, it doesn't fit 5 people especially comfortably. For larger groups you will want to go with a bigger vehicle.

This is a really fun car to drive. It comes is a four-door and two-door option. Colors range from grey to orange. Pedal response is great and shifting is very smooth. I have owned this car for over four years and don't plan on selling it anytime soon. It also comes in an "R" model that has a bigger motor and it's AWD.
Story
Taking it up to the mountains and camping under a waterfall in Oregon. The seats fold down in the back so hauling gear was no problem.
Pros
Car gets up to speed very quickly. It handles turns and corners flawlessly. It's compact so parking is easy. Plaid seats from the factory are a nice touch. Gas mileage is very good considering it has a turbo. It has paddle shifters on the steering wheel for easy shifting. It has a sport mode for higher rpm driving. Seats fold down in the back to make room for transporting bigger items.
Cons
Runs through oil quickly so attention to that is a must. Check engine light always seems to be on when there seems to be no issues. Interior is crammed and not very roomy. The cam follower will fail so that needs to be checked constantly. This car is expensive to maintain. Oil changes can range from $75 to $100. Parts such as bulbs, fuses, filters, etc., can be very expensive.
