Appreciate the durability and strength of the car
I have a 1997 Ford Contour I purchase about a year ago from a private owner for around $1,100 dollars. Overall, it's been a reliable vehicle and has gotten me from point A to point B. There have been a couple minor issues that we have had to fix along the way, but nothing major. The biggest issue that we have had to deal with is the engine overheating. Luckily, we were able to attach a toggle switch to the fan, which allows us to control when we need to turn it on. Besides that, it has been a relatively comfortable vehicle and is durable enough to handle two small children. Of course, I wish it had more room, but for being a 4-door sedan - I can't complain! I have definitely gotten my $1100 out of it that I paid for it.

This car runs great.
I brought my car "Anna" on Craigslist in 2012. The car has not let me down yet. I have never had a flat, and the fixes for the car are minimal. I put oil in the car every 6 months and she takes me all over Washington State. There is a light oil leak in the gasket, but my mechanic says "So what, it took 16 years to get it there". She does drink more gas than I would prefer though. At 44 mpg, I thought she would be a little more gas efficient, but that is her only flaw. She is small enough to park anywhere, and it's easy to maneuver her steering. The air conditioner works great after 16 years. The back seat is a bit small, as well as the trunk, but the seat-belts work great, no issues. The doors squeak a little, but nothing WD-40 won't fix. No "check engine lights" on, no brake lights, the car is in great condition to be so old. I had transmission flushed, and windshield wipers replaced, and put new brake pads on her, as well as tires, but that's all the maintenance she's ever needed.

Dependable old car
For the most part, my Ford Contour has been a very dependable car. It did not have all the power I would have liked, but I knew that when I bought it because it is a four-cylinder model. The ride is fairly comfortable for a less expensive model. I always was impressed with the instrument panel, and it came with features that have continued working throughout the life of the car. For example, the cruise control is still working. The gas mileage is another reason I like the car. Throughout the years, the engine has performed well. One problem I've had with the car is a computer module has gone out twice, and it is expensive to replace. At around 100,000 miles, I had to replace the fuel pump, but that is to be expected in most cars eventually.
