Best car Ford has
Car is a beauty/sharp looking, has been totally reliable, excellent in snow, good on gas, great on the road. I rarely allow anyone else to drive it. Absolutely love it and am growing sad at the thought she may die on me soon due to age. Inherited parents' well-maintained 2000 Chevy Impala...twice the cost of my Contour, and it has been a royal pain. I'll take my Contour any day!!!

This was easily one of the worst cars I've ever owned, and I've owned a whole ton in my days. I'll start with the fact that the inside of the car was cheaply made. Cheap plastics, cheap electronics, cheap everything. A/C was beyond wimpy, and you lost a ton of engine power when you turned it on. In addition, it ran through brakes like crazy for no apparent reason. My mechanics could never figure it out, but I ran through pads and rotors every six months. I grew wary of the cost of replacing them so often so I got rid of the car in a pretty big hurry. About the only saving grace was that it was white (liked the color) and gas mileage was pretty good for the time.

It's cheap and ugly, but runs good!
As far as my 1998 Contour goes, it's nothing special and has annoying quarks. However, it does run good and runs quiet! If you're lucky enough to have the SVT version of the Contour, you'll have quite a bit of fun with the V6 and 5 speed combination. The SVT Contours, believe it or not, are a popular basis for a V6 swap. This V6 swap is the 2.5L-to-3.0L swap, which most of the time involves a Taurus 3.0 engine being swapped in. The Contour is small and economical on fuel, which is the best thing about mine. That being said, the Contour does have some rather annoying habits. Economical wise, the SVT may not be an option for you if you're looking to save on fuel costs. The worst, overall, is find certain parts for it sometimes. When one of the taillights broke on mine, finding the right one with the right interchangeable date was a very tedious process. Currently, I'm still waiting on the correct taillight housing to come in the mail. Another issue I've been having with it lately is start-up issues when it's cold outside. All in all, a good economy car. Even though they did make these cars for only a few years, a lot of parts cars do still show up in junkyards so locating a replacement part isn't always a difficult issue.
