Great bargain
The car has performed well overall, despite being an older model. It has required minimal work (replaced spark plugs and battery) and minimal maintenance.
The seats are relatively comfortable and have held up well.
The sunroof is large and quiet unless going at higher speeds.
The seats turn down to allow larger items into the car, though overall it doesn't hold as much as a full size. However, it can hold a Christmas tree that's 6-7 feet tall as long as you don't mind some needles!

cheaply made, not impressive looking,
The 1999 Ford Contour LX looks and drives like a budget car. The style is neither sporty or luxurious. I would say it was not a bad car for the money but unfortunately it broke down to many times for me to claim this. Every other state inspection would uncover some major work that needed to be done. At least he parts are cheap compared to other cars. I have a cloth interior and it's nice. No complaints there. My favorite part about the car is the comfort of the seat. When I sit in my wife's much more expensive Nissan I somehow feel way less comfortable. I have the stock issue stereo system that would sound ok if the speakers always worked. Unfortunately The left speaker only seems to work when it wants to. The gas mileage is good. The tank seems to hold about 13 to 15 gallons of gas which is plenty. Sometimes the car rattles when on the highway and doesn't provide much of a quiet ride. The heat in the car seems to only have two levels - 'soft' or 'full blast' despite several different settings being shown. Car's performance is low. It's just not a fast car. The 1999 Ford Contour is definitely just a car to get from point 'A' to point 'B' with practically no premium frills.

Old yet reliable
The used vehicle I own is a 1999 Ford Contour. At the time of purchase, I was pleased to see that there was no damage on the outside. The inside was a little dirty, but it had been owned by another with children at a low price of $500. All the needed functions to operate the vehicle worked properly. I was concerned with the mileage on the odometer being over 100,000. Living in a rural area there is a need to travel long distances. There was a spare tire included. When test driving it, there were no problems at all. Which made it easier to decide to purchase the car. A dislike was that there was no heat or air working. I did like that the trunk size was big and would fit a lot of groceries for example. I mainly wanted to have a vehicle that would get me to and from work. Also, with very little to repair needed. I did not care for the color, which was maroon. It wound up being what I needed.
