Best purchase I've ever made
This was my first major car purchase. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The gray exterior and dark gray interior matched my style perfectly. The car performed exceptionally well. No major problems even after 100,000+ miles. I get more than 40 mpg and considerably more than that on the highway. This car handles curves and corners well. Driving stick shift was a thrill! I didn't learn to drive a standard until I purchased the vehicle. This was an awesome vehicle to learn on and very forgiving. It may be a small vehicle but it can still do work! I've hauled tons of potting soil, wood chips and other gardening supplies in the truck. Overall, a great purchase that I would highly recommend to anyone.

The Ford Escort ZX2: Small, efficient and reliable
I bought the car used for a total of $3500 back in 2010 and the considering it was 7 years old at that point it still runs as good as it did the day I bought it. It's a two door coupe so it's very small but for a personal car for taking on commute for work or school it's great. Very fuel efficient as well I think I get around 27 mpg in city.

Great value for a dependable car
My purchase of a 1999 Ford Escort when it was new, right of the lot, was primarily to get a four-door car that would be able to stand up for a short time for commuting for as cheap as possible. I had not intended it to be my forever vehicle. I have had the car ever since, and it runs like the Energizer bunny. It is incredibly fuel efficient, it is easy to maintain, and it very infrequently has any problems. It is not pretty or stylish, but it is more dependable than fancier cars my peers have purchased. I am well over 100,000 miles and annual cost of maintenance is less than most people's monthly car payments. The most expensive thing to break is the air conditioning. It has needed repairs three times in the 18 years I have owned it. Because it looks very downscale, I feel I can safely park it anywhere with out any fear of break in or theft. I dislike that everything is manual — I have friends who can not understand that the door has to be locked or unlocked by hand or that the window has to be cranked open, but it means less to break. I dislike that just this year the rubber trim is starting to fall apart and look shabby. I originally disliked that it didn't have a CD player. Now all these years later, who would want a CD player? Otherwise, my Escort is amazing. It is the perfect commuter car.
