Unreliable
I had bought it nearly new in mint condition in 2000 as a new car and got a great deal on it. However, it only lasted about 4 years and 59,000 miles before the transmission went out. I thought that for the money I paid it shouldn't have already dropped the transmission. I have had many great memories in it and remember fitting many people in the backseat when I drove around in high school. Overall, I would recommend it as a new car to an inexperienced driver. But, for those who need it for their everyday life, I would not recommend it. I find it unsafe for long term usage.

Does not age well.
I bought this car when it was about 14 years old, but only had 120k miles on it. Despite the relatively low miles, it has needed more than regular maintenance. It had already had a transmission rebuild around 80k, before I owned it. The car picked up large amounts of body rust very quickly. The entire brake system has been replaced. The gearshift is finicky, and just bumping it can flip you into neutral unexpectedly. The OEM wheel studs sheared off while driving one day, sending the car one way and the wheel another. The gauges are not accurate, leading to multiple out of gas events. The gas mileage is around 16 in town, 19 highway, which is abysmal for this car's size and engine. The stereo system is built in to the dash with the climate controls such that it cannot be replaced and comes with no AUX input. One of the cigarette lighters just fell apart when I went over a bump one day. However, when I had to do some body work (replace the lift gate), parts were fairly easy to find in a junkyard despite the rarer body style. I love the wagon body type (no problem fitting a kayak inside -- if you are very careful!) and the keyless entry.

This car just keeps on going!
I bought this car used with almost 200,000 miles on it about a year ago. I have performed regular maintenance on it the whole time. This car has yet to show any major issues. Of course it's age is showing. It is almost 20 years old, but it is aging well! I love the amount of room the car has. The interior is spacious enough for a family of four and a dog. The trunk will hold everything a family needs and more with the fold down back seat if needed. We travel across the state in the car about one a month and so far, it has been a smooth trip every time. As I stated, I have yet to perform any major repairs on this car. It still has the get and go of a V6, and it idles smoothly. This car is going to last me quite awhile. It's my reliable commuter most days.
