Perfect for our family.
The Ford Freestyle has been one of the best vehicles we have ever owned. We are a family of three with two dogs and we travel many weekends to visit our extended family. Not only does the Freestyle get fantastic gas mileage, but it has all the space we need for one child, two dogs and luggage. It is a very comfortable drive with tight steering and back seat controlled air conditioning, which is also great because our son likes to control his own temperature. There are cup holders built into all the doors in addition to the two in the center console which is great because some of the vehicles we have owned did not have but one or two cup holders and that was a pain. The sound system is great and the style is perfect - like an extended hatchback. We also love the third row of seating that can be converted into a flat trunk space. This is typically where our dogs ride and our luggage fits next to our son in the back seat. Underneath the third row of seats is the spare tire and usual trunk stuff, making it easily accessible for someone like me, who doesn't know much about that stuff.

Almost time for a new car, but this one has been wonderful
This has been a great reliable family car. The 3rd row was what drew us to this car because at the time there were only a few crossovers on the market. There is plenty of space, and its very easy to drive. We've had the car for 10 years, and it's gotten us through the young children phase. The transmission is different than most other cars. It has the same type of transmission as a snowplow, which makes it extremely fuel efficient. That was another selling point at purchase. You won't win any acceleration contests with this car, but that makes it safe for the family. It has in the last year developed some squeaks and wobbles which can be attributed to its age. I wish this car was still on the market because I would buy an updated version of it in a heartbeat. I don't like the comps Ford has available now. We have enjoyed owning this car and will be sad when it's time to trade it in. I would recommend it to anyone that is considering purchasing a reliable used car.

A winner
We traded our 2002 Ford Explorer for an 2007 FWD Freestyle SEL about eight months ago. This is a terrific vehicle in styling, comfort, utility, performance, and reliability. The first time my sister took it on a long road trip she called enroute to ask if I thought the gas gauge was faulty. This question came because of the gas tank indicator dropping so slowly, mileage turned out to be around 32 mpg with cruise set at 75. Keep up the good work Ford!!
