A Beautiful Machine
I purchased my 2004 EC250 (Econoline) Van on February 2nd 2013. It was formerly a Sears fleet vehicle; a strong selling point for the dealer. It clearly had been well cared for, although the new paint job was cheap. The back was filled with shelving and storage cabinets for tools which I tore out piece by piece and sold as scrap metal, for twenty seven dollars and some change. Now the vehicle was ready for its intended use; light hauling.
In addition to these preparations I also change the oil, bought new tires, and had the front-end alignment done. I started to advertise, and although the demand was high in the area I was working in the competition was heavy, and it became obvious after a couple of months that it would be very difficult to turn a profit. While I waited for the title to arrive from the DMV, I contemplated selling it.
Meanwhile, the bumpy and pothole infested road of Oakland CA damaged a tie rod, which caused damage to one of the new tires before I could repair it.
My wife got a job on the east coast and I somehow loaded all of our possessions, minus a couple of bulky pieces of furniture into the van, and drove it from coast to coast, loaded to capacity, and it survived, making the trip without the smallest mechanical mishap or complaint. The Ford “Triton” 4.6 liter V8 is a genuinely amazing and durable engine. In spite of its size, the overdrive feature of the transmission delivers a surprising 20 mpg on the highway.
I still have the vehicle, and it is a financial burden; something that adds numerous complications to my life, yet I am loathe to let go of it for some reason. It is one beautiful, powerful piece of machinery.

Great truck
I love this truck. I haul a three horse trailer with no problem. It's also my daily vehicle to and from work. It's comfortable and, considering its size, relatively easy to park/maneuver around.

Gas guzzling tank, but dependable and versatile
I like the being able to do what I need to with it and haul things all in one trip. If I go somewhere and have to wait awhile in the van it is not uncomfortable and there is room to stretch out in the seats or in the back. Quality is alright, things seldom go wrong with it and they are mostly easily fixed, common things. It is dependable and a solid work horse kind of vehicle that always starts and runs as long as you can afford to feed it a lot of gas.
It was never made to be a fast vehicle, nor was it made to be especially sporty - it was made to be drivable and the kind of things that if you find yourself in it all day long delivering things it isn't too hard on the back or too confining . It is kind of like driving your living room around with big cup holders and a big dash in front of you and lots of room to store things and move around. it doesn't bounce around much nor does it lean into curves much it just glides over the road much like it would run over anything in it's way. With impressive ground clearance and a lot of weight it digs through the snow and shoves through drifts , not much stops it.
