Reliable workhorse SUV
I have really enjoyed having a 4Runner. I wanted a large SUV because I like large dogs. My Bernese Mountain Dogs and Newfoundland have plenty of room to spread out in the "trunk" of the SUV. When I lay the seats down, we can go on really long hauls. The original floor mats that come with the vehicle won't stand up to dogs and dirt though, so we did replace those with WeatherTecs. The dogs LOVE hanging out the back window, which rolls all of the way down Performance: My family members who drive the car say it rides rough. However, for its size, it has good pick-up-and-go and sensitive braking. Practicality and Comfort: Not a luxury vehicle here. It's seats are not that comfortable - they seem narrow and only good for people with narrow butts. Overall, this is a workhorse SUV that can haul things inside and behind the vehicle. The backseats seem more comfortable on your tush, but the middle seat is so small that only a child could sit there comfortably. There is plenty of leg room. Fuel economy averages about 15-16mpg on in-city travel. You can get 17-18 on highway. Overall, I would get another 4Runner but I would spend the extra money on a different edition to get some more comfy perks inside. I'd like heated seats, leather seats, and a rear-view camera.

Best outdoor enthusiast SUV available.
I purchased this car used in August of 2014 with 142,000 miles, and as of January 2018, it currently has 222,000 miles. This has been one of the greatest cars I have every owned. I am an avid surfer and skier who resides in Southern California, and the vehicle is perfect for hauling surfboards and camping gear up and down the coast or snow gear up to Mammoth Mountain. I am particularly impressed with the reliability of this vehicle, especially since I purchased it with so many miles. I perform all the maintenance work myself, and since purchase, have only changed the oil every 5,000 miles, changed the break pads once, put new spark plugs in, got new tires, and replaced an alternator. The car continues to feel and drive great.
