2003 Toyota Tacoma - A great truck!
I love my Tacoma, it is a great truck for camping, taking stuff to the dump, and so forth. I also like that it looks good and handles really well.
Historia
I've had a great time taking the scouts up into the mountains camping.
A Favor
I like that it is easy to drive and isn't a huge truck, it is perfect for my needs. It has four wheel drive which is good in the snow and when I take it off-road.
En Contra
The bed is a little short because I have the four door version. But it hasn't been a problem for me, but I can see people who need to take big loads wouldn't like it.
2003 Toyota Tacoma - Toyota Tacoma is a great work truck, just don't expect luxury comforts.
The 2003 Toyota Tacoma is a great durable compact pickup truck and is ideal for work and some casual driving. In my experience, it has a great frame, is fairly low-maintenance, and great gas mileage for a truck. The option to go with the four-cylinder version gives it great efficiency, and for having such a small engine, it actually hauls quite a big load. Combined with an after-market bed-extender which allows you to make full use of the bed by dropping the tail gate and closing with the extender, it has great flexibility. Plus its compact size makes it easy to find parking virtually anywhere.
Historia
I use this truck for construction, and on once occasion, it was necessary to move loads of debris and waste away from the job site. Everyone's jaws dropped to the floor when I loaded this truck with a heaping mound, even bigger than the truck itself and drove away with it to the landfill. Nobody could believe it, and ever since, I've had multiple offers to buy the truck from me. I'm not selling.
A Favor
Our car has been through three accidents since we've become its owner, and in all three cases, it was just fine. We can't say the same for the other cars. It only got a couple dings and scratches, while the other cars stopped functioning completely! It's easy to find parking because of its small size and also makes for a higher MPG when compared to other trucks. This has been a very versatile truck that we've barely had to put any money into.
En Contra
Since this is the base model, there aren't any extras. The bench-type seat doesn't recline any because it's made to be as compact as possible, so the seat basically hits the back wall of the cabin, and there's no room to recline back. There isn't much space in the cabin itself for any storage or after-market upgrades such as speakers or sub-woofers, so you're stuck with the two door speakers as your means of music. Definitely not a vehicle for long, leisurely trips.
