2011 Toyota Tacoma - Dependable, but not ideal.
My 2011 Toyota Tacoma has been dependable so far when we needed it to get us somewhere. It has 150,000 miles on it. At first, we loved what a steady truck it was. We didn't have to replace anything and there were no major problems. Lately, the turn signals have been blowing fuses very often. This makes it stressful to drive in busy cities because we never know when they will go out and need replaced. We have also noticed that this truck is very difficult to drive up hills. It loses power and slugs down as we try to make it up any sort of hill. It can still get us where we want to go but the slow down is very noticeable. The truck's back doors can only open when you open the front doors first. This makes it difficult to let our kids out when we go places. We have to be sure to park in a... (more)
Historia
We used the truck to drive around our farm land. I sat in the back as we drove really slowly through the field and looked at the scenery. Afterwards we stopped and all sat in the back to relax.
A Favor
I like how long the truck has lasted us. We have had minimal problems with it up until recently. It has served our small family well. The long truck bed makes it possible to move things when we need to.
En Contra
The fuses are starting blow. There is very limited room inside the cab. The doors are a hassle to use.
2011 Toyota Tacoma - Best midsized truck
Overall, I like the sleek look of the truck. It has good body styling and crisp lines. The ability to add after market parts and still increase the look of it are also a plus (running boards, roof rack). Quality in terms of engine and interior so far have been excellent. I've had no problems with the truck. The controls and stereo input is well laid out, and the seats are comfortable for around-town driving and for longer trips. I have the full-sized bed, which is great for hauling bikes, lumber, etc. The plug in the bed is also nice for playing a stereo in the driveway or at a sporting event.

Traveling home with all the lumber and plant materials for an entire front yard landscaping project. There were a few hills. I thought I might not make it up and the "stop" signs became "pause" signs so I could keep momentum.
A Favor
The truck has an excellent reputation in terms of engine and breakdown and so far has not disappointed. I have only been in for regular service and no other irregularities in 60,000+ miles. The second-row seat gives enough room, and the four door design is great for friends or kids. The storage under and behind the second row seat is also very helpful. I can fit a ton of car and towing stuff in there.
En Contra
Gas mileage is a downside with this, just like any other truck. I average about 19 mpg in the city in the summer, but that drops pretty far down (17-18) in the winter. The ability to adapt the stereo (new console, upgrade to mp3) is lacking and would be better if it were easier to manipulate.
