We bought our Jetta in 2010 suddenly after our VW Beetle was totaled in an accident. I've had it over five years now, and it's been a very good car. We just drove it on a 3000 mile road trip through the Southwest, and it never gave us problems. It uses diesel, and the fuel economy was great. It's also quite comfortable. We opted for heated seats - I think that was an option, not factory, and the seats are leather. The heating is wonderful, and I don't think I could ever get another car without them. The leather has cracked a little bit around the edges, but it's not a big deal to us. Now, ours is dark blue. There are a LOT of dark blue four door cars in our neighborhood, and a good portion of them are newish VWs. Sometimes it's difficult to find our car in the lot. We also have a remo... (more)
Pros
I love the heated seats. I also greatly appreciate the size and shape of the trunk and the flip-down backseats. There is plenty of legroom, even in the backseat. I can charge my phone IN the vehicle while the engine is running. Very convenient.
Cons
Sometimes diesel fuel is a little hard to find. Not every gas station has it. It seems like *everyone* has a car of the same or similar make in the same color, so it can be hard to find. The area between the front seats has two drink holders, a console "box", the parking brake, the gear changer, and a nook under the stereo for loose change. All this is kind of cramping. The drink holders really need to be just a hair bigger, the console box is too small to put my phone in while it charges, so I have to put it in a drink holder. The gear changer blocks the little loose change nook, so it'... (more)

I have put around 70,000 miles on my 2010 Jetta and it still drives solidly as it did the first day. This car has great power. When I need to pick up speed to blow pass any car, I just put my foot on the gas pedal and it flies. The car is very responsive to steering. Suspension allows me to corner sharp turn with ease. It is very well built and insulated that I don't hear any road noise on highway. The interior materials is of high quality and wears well. I did not choose an upgrade, but the standard package held up quite well over time. The stereo system that comes standard sounds fantastic. It has great antenna because I My power sunroof and windows are working well today, just as it did the first day. What I also like about the car is its good reputation. Until the VW scandal came a... Story
I have driven my car, with my bike loaded in the trunk, through snow and headed south to DC to have a great day of bike ride away from snow covered NYC. It feels like a great get away vacation.
Pros
This car is a rocket on four wheels. I love the power that is available immediately as soon as I place my foot on the gas pedal. Along with the speed, the car came equipped with superb suspension system that allow you to maintain control of the vehicle, even when the car is maneuvered at high speed. It corners well and the steering wheel do not vibrate at high speed. The car is well insulated so that there were very little road noise when traveling at high speed. The interior of the car is very spacious, with lots of leg rooms, especially for a little car that it is. The price of the car i... (more)
Cons
This car has a lot of power and torque, but comes with what I feel insufficient ability to break. The interior, while feel very well-appointed, I don't think it age one day in term of appearance, but if you were to sit on it, the seat had quite a few sagging spots after only 5 years of use. The gas and break pedal is somewhat too far upfront so I can't reach as well as I could in some other car. Also, the size of the break pedal is too small to my liking. I have one other problem with this car. It cost a lot to go to dealer to pay for routine maintenance. Luckily, many ordinary, non-deale... (more)
