I purchased this New beetle (2013) from another owner because I was infatuated with the beetle model in general. I had always wanted one, and that was biggest reason for buying it. Sure, not the most educated decision, but I needed a new car at the time quite badly, and bought something used. The beetle is adorable, has a 1.8Turbo engine, and is bright green. Just it's cosmetics alone, make it a pleasure to drive. The seats and both leather, and heated for comfort, which is a nice touch. The turbo charged engine allows it to be quick and accelerates quickly, and everything else - the handling, feel, look, and roomy-ness, all make the car a pleasure to drive. I would certainly get another in the future, except a newer model, and possibly a different color. There are a few minor annoya... (more)
Story
Driving it cross-country nearly 2000 miles in the winter, with my blankets, heated seats, heater, and cat with me.
Pros
It looks great, it's fun to drive, handles well, and everyone else seems to compliment it.
Cons
The fatal flaw in this car is in its engine design (the 1.8 Turbo). Allegedly, people strongly advise allowing the car to idle an additional 5-10 minutes after parking to allow the engine to cool properly (depending on length of drive.). Lame. Who wants to sit around and wait after parking before getting out. Also, the trunk door. If you use the unlock switch from the driver's door, you have three seconds to run and open up the trunk before it locks itself again. That involves standing outside with the door open, hitting the switch, and dashing to the rear before it locks.

The only thing I dislike about my VW is the windshield panel blocks my corner view some and that it was used. I love the ride, the color, (silver) the shape and the mileage/fuel economy. I've owned bugs all my life since the late 50s. I have driven this one 70,000 plus miles and it's still going great! I still get adults and kids doing the slug bug thing. You know, hitting each other on the shoulders and then laughing. Yes they still do that. It's the most comfortable vehicle, for it's size, that I've owned or ever ridden in, I've had some comment that it doesn't feel like a Volkswagen once they're inside. Oh yes, it's a turbo and has more power then I have yet to use or probably ever will. I've owned it since 2009 and have had to do very little major work on it, so they are very depen... (more)
Story
Well I think the loading/hauling of the 7ft palm tree and people still playing the slug bug game is very memorable and fun.
Pros
The fact that I love bugs/beetles the shape of the new beetle and the mileage is a huge plus.
Cons
Used and had 93,000 miles on it when purchased.
