I just recently got my car, so having a newer car is always nice. I like my VW Beetle because it's a small, compact car, so it's easy for me to drive around the city. I also like the interior of the car because it's not leather, which I actually prefer, because leather gets too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I love the way the car looks because it's cute, girly and fun which all suit my personality. It's pretty comfortable for me to drive, the other thing I dislike is that because I'm pretty short (5 foot 3 inches), I have to have my seat as close to the steering wheel as possible, so I can reach the pedals, and be able to push the clutch all the way down. Because of this, my knees are right up against the part of the dash underneath the steering wheel, which makes me un... (more)
Story
The most fun/memorable stories I have about my vehicle was when I was first learning how to drive it (since it was a manual), I was picking it up from the dealership, and I didn't know how to drive a stick and looked like an idiot driving out of the dealership, while all of the maintenance and repairmen were able to see me struggling to drive the car. I was with my mom, and a couple of my frie... (more)
Pros
The top positive things about my Volkswagen Beetle, in my opinion, were the style, the way it handles and the gas mileage. The style of the new Volkswagen Beetle are cute, sleek, girly, and fun which are all perfect for a girl my age (early twenties). Also, I feel the car handles really well, especially compared to my old car. I always feel in control of the maneuvering of the car. I also feel safe driving the car. Another positive thing about my Volkswagen Beetle is the gas mileage. I am a college student, and frequently travel back and forth from my parents house to the University (about... (more)
Cons
The biggest negative about the car is definitely the fact that I have to sit all the way forwards in the driver's seat (because I'm relatively short) just to be able to push the pedals all the way down, which is necessary because it has a manual transition, so I need to be able to push the clutch all the way in, or I'm unable to switch gears. Because I have to sit all the forward, my knees are right up against the part of the car beneath the steering wheel. This is the only thing about the car that makes me feel unsafe, because I fear that if I get into an accident my knees/legs will be hu... (more)

I had always dreamed of owning a convertible, especially a VW Bug. In my mid-40s, I bought one. It is salsa red with a black top and black interior. It is like a mini-vacation each time I drive with the top down. I have owned the car for over six years and love most everything about it except the gas mileage and the electronic sensors. Mechanically, the car has held up well. It now has over 100,000 miles on it and is still going strong.
Pros
For a small car, the VW Beetle has a fairly large trunk. I am able to fit a beach chair, bag, suitcase, and other items in the trunk. The radio/CD player and sound system are good. I have a manual transmission and love the power the car has. I feel that it is well-built and reasonably safe.
Cons
From the start, the gas mileage has been disappointing. I average less than twenty-five miles per gallon on the highway. For a manual transmission VW Bug, I expected more. When the car was about five years old, the cruise control quit working, while I was on vacation about 200 miles from home. When I got it checked, a test had to be run to figure out the problem. Once it was analyzed, I was told that the sensor on the brake pedal for the cruise control had gone bad, not the cruise control itself. It cost about one hundred dollars to have that fixed. Then a sensor went out on the po... (more)
