My car is a 2011 Dodge Avenger Main Street, or base model. Black on Black with 18 inch chrome wheels and 4 cylinder engine. On my initial test drive the car felt pretty good considering it was a 4 cylinder. My previous car was a 6 cylinder so the performance or lack of, was noticeable right away, but decent. I liked the fact that it was a sedan, as I was coming out of a coupe in my previous ownership. I disliked the fact it lack a sunroof or remote start features. However, it was the base model so I cannot complain. Interior quality is moderate. Plastics ranged from soft - hard depending on whether it is in an area that is touched frequently.
Story
My car is quite popular in my immediate area. My kids always point out a car that looks like mines while out and about. However, I've never seen the same color and wheel combination as mines, so it is somewhat unique.
Pros
Thick rimmed steering wheel - great comfort. Steering wheel controls - great for commuters Roomy interior Adequate trunk space Good creature features for a base model No fake or unauthentic steering feel
Cons
Electrical issues (at least my car) Seats can become stiffening on long trips 4 cylinder did not return great mpg Sluggish, can feel the weight of the car Battery is accessed below driver-side front wheel well. (Horrible location for battery changes. Battery change itself requires the removal of a panel inside the wheel well and removal of tire.)

2011 Dodge Avenger - Reliable and fast.

This car has a lot of engine power and smooth ride. It has a sporty look without being gaudy. It handles very well in rough, wet weather. It corners well and the steering is very responsive at freeway speeds. The interior is roomy and sleek/not fussy looking and the road noise levels are negligible. The 2.4L inline 4 with the 4 gear auto transmission with overdrive provides great fuel economy on the highway but bad fuel economy in the city. The acceleration is on the low end of things but it looks beautiful and huge bang for its money. This car has personality. She's bright red in the sun, bright red in the dark. she pulls to 0-60mph/100kph in 6 seconds, and does a 7.0L per 100km at normal highway speeds. Her interior is adoring and useful, she holds you on long rides, throws you back ... (more)
Story
We went out looking at other Chrysler products, but were not totally impressed with the two we had in mind. My wife saw an Avenger in the showroom, and almost literally fell in love. I loved the body design, but had read that it was not as impressive when inside for a tall guy. I got in (with a hat on) and I had no trouble at all. We test drove one with the heat package, and knew that this was... (more)
Pros
This is an excellent road trip car and since I spend a lot of time and miles in mine, I look forward to some good times. You will get lots of compliment. I have gotten 8,000 miles between my first two oil changes.
Cons
The Avenger has a higher accident rating when compared to other cars. My opinion is that it is due to the responsive engine. The rotors heat up too quickly and, while the car stops as it should, this causes a terrible shudder.
