The greatest things about having a Ford Ranger are its dependability and its versatility. I've had my 2004 Ranger for 180,000 and it has been running strong the whole way, needing only regular maintenance and minor repairs -- in fact after over a decade I just had to replace the original factory battery! It's a great vehicle for commuting, getting some work done, and exploring the unpaved wilds.
Historia
I have so many great memories with my Ranger! A good one that leaps to mind is driving around the rugged Mojave Desert until it was getting close to dark, then watching the sun set over the desert during diner cooked over a camp fire, and finally sleeping under the stars in the bed of the truck.
A Favor
My little Ranger has done anything I've ever asked it to. Haul a trailer from WA to VA? Fill the bed up with gravel (not a few bags from the hardware store, but FILLED with a front loader) and haul it up hills? Go off-road in the desert? Climb over boulders and fallen tree limbs on forest logging roads? My Ranger has done it all. And while it can do all the extreme things that I need it to do sometimes, it's great as a commuter car as well. The gas mileage (~20 miles/gal depending on the type of driving and what you might be hauling) can't compare to a newer sedan, but it's similar to olde... (more)

I got the short regular cab, where there's only a couple of inches behind the two front seats before the rear window. In hindsight I would have gotten an extended cab version: with the regular cab you can only comfortably bring 1 passenger, you have no where to lock things up without a canopy or toolbox, and it's difficult to tie things like grocery bags down in the bed of the truck. I also got the 2-wheel drive Edge model. If you plan on driving on mostly flat pavement that's a good choice to maximize your gas mileage. But if you live somewhere with a lot of weather and/or hills (say in S... (more)

This little truck is able to haul a long ton of furnace pellets, and driving those backroads to get to our perfect camp site she's had perfect handling. The bed of the truck is the perfect size for a queen size air mattress, and there's plenty of room on the tail gate for a cook stove, I've also used this truck several times for trips to dump yard debris. She's a workhorse and still as beautiful as the day I drove her home. The front seat is comfortable to drive in and to be the passenger. The little fold down seats are great for kids on into their teens. I am an adult and I sat back there for a beach trip and was plenty comfortable for me. The heater heats quick and is easily adjustable. The air conditioner works the same.
Historia
Camping and using a queen air-mattress to sleep in the bed. Had many a great nights sleep under the stars in this little truck.
A Favor
She has a great heater, and just as great is the air conditioner. She drives easy, stops quickly, and the interior is comfy with plenty of leg room for the taller drivers. The exterior is a beautiful Sonic Blue that's just as shiny as the day I bought it. The bed liner keeps the bed from scratches and small dings to the inside of the bed. She handles easy and gets about 20 mpg. Last but not least this truck handles well in the snow, too!
En Contra
I can't think of any cons. This is the perfect little truck. She starts every time.
