My blue Hyundai Accent is a 2010 model that we (my mom and I) purchased in 2011. Initially, I thought the color was not attractive. I wanted a black car, but the cheery blue eventually won me over. My car is now nicknamed, "The Tardis," off of the TV show Doctor Who. The car has run very smooth since 2011, and it is now at 100,000. I seldom take my vehicle on the highway, so I think that contributed to the maintenance of my vehicle. I really like how I have a car that is the perfect size for my 5'1" stature. I have had no problem backing in and out of parking spots because the car is compact and easy to handle. It is only in the past 2 years that I've had to replace all 4 tires and do two major automotive fixes. For example, one major fix up was replacing a sensor that was important.
Story
I have a ukulele that I constantly keep in my car because you never know. A fun memory is that I constantly take my cat for rides in my car, without a harness/seatbelt/crate, etc. and he makes a point to sit in the very back against the window. He looks like a blob, and certain fast food places around down recognize him because of it when we drive around.
Pros
The top positive thing about my vehicle is that the gas in my tank goes very far. I am so incredibly happy. As a struggling graduate student that roughly $20 of gas, unleaded, fills up my tank. This has remained true over the past 7 years of ownership, which is a blessing. The next positive thing is that I've had a lot of reliability over the years, only in the past 2 years have I had to do major things like replace all tires instead of just oil changes/routine maintenance. My seats are comfortable. I have a trunk which I enjoy, and though the car is compact, I always have enough room to a... (more)
Cons
The stereo can be a bit wonky with the static, and I do not have the smoothest surround sound, but I do not really care about that aspect. The seats are not heated, and I do not think I have Bluetooth capability. Those negative attributes are related to luxury perks, so I do not see these as necessarily negative.

2010 Hyundai Accent - Great basic car, with a few drawbacks.

I purchased my Hyundai Accent used, but in almost new condition back in 2011. Over seven years, and 100,000 miles later it's still going strong - despite some minor mishaps along the way. When I was first deciding on what kind of car I wanted to purchase, I liked the overall style and size of the Accent. Even though it is a very small car, it never really feels crowded. I have two dogs - a larger German shepherd and a pit-bull terrier - they fit perfectly bucked up on the back seats! The trunk has optimal storage for a car of its size and is even made more spacious by reclining the set of backseats forward. The AC and heat both work fantastically - sometimes too well! I believe the gas mileage is pretty good and overall my experience driving this car has been really positive. If I coul... (more)
Story
My favorite experience is diving my dogs to the dog park in my Accent. I love seeing their funny expressions sticking out the passenger's side window as they sit in the back seat!
Pros
Good size and appearance, large storage space (especially when back seats are lowered), powerful A/C, and great gas millage.
Cons
Non-automatic window controls, light-weight causes it to blow in wind, simple repairs (such as replacing the back plate lights) are difficult to do on your own.
