I bought the 2003 Hyundai Accent at the time because I was looking for the absolute least expensive new car that I could get with an automatic transmission. Though I was looking for an inexpensive car and didn't expect much, I love the Accent. It's big enough for the 2 car seats I needed for 2 kids. The color I picked was Glacier Blue. It's like the color of the sky and the color and the car are absolutely beautiful to see in person. I've taken many photos of the car and it looked great. Time and again I got compliments for the car and people wanted to buy it from me, I never expected this from such an inexpensive car! The seats have been very comfortable. Couldn't imagine liking seats more. Steering wheel and pedals all have a perfect feel to them. Seatbelts are excellent. Dashboard... (more)
Story
One time, I remember buying my own new computer for the first time and bringing it home in my new car. It was an awesome time.
Pros
- Least expensive new car with air conditioning and automatic transmission at the time I was able to buy it. - The glacier blue color was beautiful - The car was beautiful - Small, but big enough to store plenty of things in trunk and 2 car seats in backs
Cons
- No Power Windows - No Power side view mirror adjustments - When storing outside, paint has discolored after about 8-9 years - The backseat would probably be too small to seat an adult in-between 2 car seats. - I didn't care, but it wasn't very powerful

2005 Hyundai Accent - 2005 Hyundai Accent: Small, unassuming, boring... But a great car

My 2005 Hyundai Accent (GLS) isn't a very exciting car. It has the standard shape, style, body, and personality of a typical 4-door sedan of the mid-2000s. I bought it used (in 2012, when it had a fairly low 45,000). I've since doubled that mileage but I've run into zero problems (other than the typical wear and tear-related repairs of tires, brakes, and a battery).
Story
Well, the person who sold it to me had an NRA sticker on the rear window, a sticker that seemed permanently affixed to the window. I'm pretty much anti-gun and find the NRA humorously (and disturbingly) out of touch. Anyway, I couldn't get the sticker off so I drove it with the sticker visible for the first few weeks. But SOMEONE - a stranger in my neighborhood, I guess - was really offended a... (more)
Pros
Some of the features I like the most include: The color, which according to Hyundai, is officially called "Kiwi Green" hasn't lost its appeal to me. It stands out in a crowd. It looks good in the sun or on a cloudy day or at night. I've truly never cared that much about car colors but this one has changed my mind. I also like that it can handle being worked hard - long trips, hauling whatever furniture can fit in there (surprisingly a lot), and handling the morning and evening commute on L.A.'S worst (by far) freeway: The stop-and-start-heavy, winding, messy, 710 freeway with its constant ... (more)
Cons
The only cons are: Its outdated stereo system (with CD only, no iPhone jack or internet capabilities. It's not the car's fault though, being from 2005. But maybe they could have anticipated the possibility of technology advancing and included an auxiliary jack. And it tends to shake when I drive over 70mph, which I shouldn't do anyway.

2011 Hyundai Accent - Good Gas Mileage but Faulty Parts

The Hyundai Accent GS is a decent car for the price. It handles well on the highway and in the city and gets great gas mileage (mine is pretty consistently 30mpg city). It's cute and sporty looking and has a large hatch trunk that can fit more than you would expect. But I've had several problems with parts going bad that I didn't even know existed. First it was the brake light switch. Then it was battery after battery before finding out that the crank shaft switch position sensor was faulty. Now it's the tire pressure sensor. The interior plastic is pretty fragile as well. Run your finger nail across it a little too hard and it permanently scuffs. If someone was handy with cars it could be a great starter for their kids. But I think too many things go bad on it to merit buying it... (more)
Story
Inadvertently I guess I dress in a way that matches the look of my car. I've had two different elderly men tell me that my car looks like it fits me.
Pros
This car has great gas mileage and looks cute and sporty. The steering is forgiving and it always handles well. I've gotten a lot of compliments on how it looks from other people when out and about. The price tag wasn't too bad either. The stock radio puts out a great sound and my speakers have held up over the years.
Cons
Lots of things have broken on it. While the parts are inexpensive and easy to find it's still a hassle to have my car in the shop a week every year. All of the parts were covered under my warranty (until it ran out) but that should tell you something about the quality. If part after part is faulty the car isn't that great.
