Three distinct settings for feedback via the steering wheel. Comfort requires less effort at the wheel, while the Sport mode quickens response. Leather front seats that heat in the winter and cool on sweltering summer days.
Story
The trip was planned pretty thoroughly in advance, and we spent most of the drive time playing a version of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon between our two vehicles via two-way radio. I don't mind saying the other participants in this game were shit. I dominated. Anyone would agree. The plan was to live in Huntington Beach for the duration of that summer, and then evaluate whether we could or wante... (more)
Pros
Style and practicality.

We bought this vehicle specifically for the gas mileage and the fact that we can transport our daughter's huge string bass musical instrument to lessons and concerts when we fold down one of the back seats. We've also driven with bass across the country without any sacrifice in comfort or performance. The bass fits just fine. This sporty car easily seats five --three if you include the string bass. It gets good performance, accelerating quickly on the highway. It's practical because of the smaller size and great gas mileage -- around 30 mpg. Plus, this car is reliable. I have had no major problems with it. No noises, no engine problems, etc. In fact, I drive this car between Dallas and Ft. Lauderdale several times a year and have been pleased with its lack of maintenance drama. The rid... (more)
Story
My husband and I were newlyweds when we moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Many, many years - and two grown daughters -- later, we drove the car from Dallas to revisit our old hometown in Florida. After visiting friends, we drove to St. Pete beach just to watch the sun set over the gulf. It was beautiful, and it brought back memories of when we were first married.
Pros
One favorite feature is the versatility to fold down the back seats and transport cargo. Another is the car's gas mileage. We weren't ready for a hybrid or electric car and still we feel we are helping the environment by driving a vehicle that gets great mileage. Another favorite feature would be how easy it is to park this baby. The car pretty much fits anywhere.
Cons
There are a few things I would improve on the Hyundai Elantra GT. First, the car gets a little noisy on the highway. It's not a big problem, but I have to turn up my music a lot. Also, I wish the designers would change the way the air conditioning vents are positioned. In my last vehicle, I would turn the front-seat passenger A/C vents to me, the driver, if no one else was in the car. This way I could get more air. With the GT's design, though, I can't turn the vents toward me.

From the moment I test drove it, I was hooked on the car. I like driving a manual transmission, and this Elantra fit the bill. The appearance had a sporty feel to it and it had fantastic gas mileage. I needed a car that could handle a daily commute to downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The car is just big enough to accommodate all five of my family members for short, around the town trips but is most ideal and excels in the daily commuter role which was the ultimate reason for the purchase.
Story
It's just a fun car to drive, whether I'm going to church, to work, and enjoying a weekend of running around with the windows down and the wind through my hair, this car does the trick.
Pros
I really enjoy the manual transmission, it adds to the sporty feel of the car. The car is a gas sipper, not a drinker, so I frequently get 35+ mpg. One particular added benefit is the smooth ride the car provides. The car handles the city roads well, and always garners attention from those that ride with me. The car's price point when I purchased it in 2012 was under $18K which certainly made this owner quite happy.
Cons
The only negative I have about the car is the 4-cylinder engine. Occasionally, when attempting to accelerate onto the interstate or pass a semi truck going up a hill, the car is challenged to accelerate as quickly as most other cars on the road.
