I bought this car four years ago and I have never had a problem with it. It drives very smoothly and it makes for a very nice ride for the passengers as well. The fuel economy is also very good, although not as good as it was originally stated to be. I was told at first that it would get 40 mpg, but in the end it gets closer to 35 mpg. The car has never had any mechanical issues in the four years I have had the car and it continues to perform very well. It has handled many long trips without problem as well. I consider this a great purchase since the automobile has over 50,000 miles on it currently.
Story
My best moment have been the road trips I have taken, specifically the trips to Indianapolis to visit friends and do triathlons.
Pros
This vehicle drives very smoothly and it also gets very good gas mileage. I also find that it is a very reliable automobile as I have never had any issues that required a mechanic. It can also handle bike racks very well as I have had my bike attached to the back for over 250 miles at a time with no issue.
Cons
It is a little small and it has very little trunk space. Also, one of the major problems I had when I first purchased it was that it did not come with a spare tire. Another con is that I was told the gas mileage was even better than what it really is. And there is a problem with the tire pressure gauge as it is always going off no matter how filled up the tire is. This can get really annoying after a while.

I will start with the ONLY con. It is an awful blind spot on the back right.. You have to turn all the way around to change lane to make sure it is clear to change. Pros-I love this car. First off it was just around $14000 new. New I would hwy about 35 miles per gallon. 5 Years later, I am still getting around 32.It is a very smooth drive. Great take off. Excellent interior quality. ALL my buttons, knob, handles and compartments are working as they did new. I have not had to perform any repairs in 5 years. I do regular maintenance but no repairs...Ever! I am an "antiquer" and the trunk space is great my unique finds. The back set lays down flat for more space. I am not an expert on speakers. However, it has GREAT sound. It has a USB slot and two lighter/charger slots. IT has an compar... (more)

From the moment I test drove it, I was hooked on the car. I like driving a manual transmission, and this Elantra fit the bill. The appearance had a sporty feel to it and it had fantastic gas mileage. I needed a car that could handle a daily commute to downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The car is just big enough to accommodate all five of my family members for short, around the town trips but is most ideal and excels in the daily commuter role which was the ultimate reason for the purchase.
Story
It's just a fun car to drive, whether I'm going to church, to work, and enjoying a weekend of running around with the windows down and the wind through my hair, this car does the trick.
Pros
I really enjoy the manual transmission, it adds to the sporty feel of the car. The car is a gas sipper, not a drinker, so I frequently get 35+ mpg. One particular added benefit is the smooth ride the car provides. The car handles the city roads well, and always garners attention from those that ride with me. The car's price point when I purchased it in 2012 was under $18K which certainly made this owner quite happy.
Cons
The only negative I have about the car is the 4-cylinder engine. Occasionally, when attempting to accelerate onto the interstate or pass a semi truck going up a hill, the car is challenged to accelerate as quickly as most other cars on the road.
