The 2009 Nissan Sentra FE sedan model has been good to me since the day I bought it new. It has a sporty ride, gets very good gas mileage, handles well in all types of driving conditions, and can carry a surprising amount of cargo. It's been able to handle the heat of Texas and also the NJ winters without a hitch. I'm still driving with all of its major components working steady as she goes. I do all of my own maintenance such as brakes, oil changes, filters, fluids, etc. Only minor work that was done on the car was repairing a coupler in the exhaust system pipe before the muffler. Oil level between oil changes doesn't drop a bit. Still working with original battery and original plugs even after 100k miles. Exterior has held up well even though I don't do much to keep it that way. No l... (more)
Story
I was stuck behind a bunch of cars that were stuck in the snow on a road leading to the street that I live. Audis, BMWs, Hondas, and other all-wheel drive cars. So, using my experience driving in the snow, I was able to go ever so slowly back and forth making my own path for my tires and eventually had enough momentum to take me up the slippery hill past all of the other cars that couldn't mak... Pros
The gas mileage. My mpg can range between 27 and 32 mpg, depending on the type of driving I do. For some reason at highway speeds, I get better gas mileage going 70 mph vs. 60 mph. Go figure. Thought it would be the other way around, but this is a good thing. The four-cyl. engine is curiously geared to run at a much lower rpm when in top gear, 2500 rpm going 60 mph, and it only creeps up a tiny bit going 70-75mph. Does this on regular gas. The handling. For a relatively base model (FE), the Sentra handles quite well and is pleasantly zippy. I don't try to over do it when driving, as I want... (more)
Cons
I had some trouble with the hood release recently. Upon pulling the interior release lever, nothing was happening. With the help of my son yanking on it and me leaning on the hood, I was able to pop it open. The mechanical linkages were a bit frozen, so I gave it a good spray of silicone lubricant. Working like new again. The headlights. The plastic headlight covers have really gotten faded. Have to do some work there as it's cutting down on the light output when driving at night. Just need to polish them up to be as good as new. The fuel tank cover. Over the years of NJ gas attendants pul... (more)

I was pretty happy with the car overall. I bought it used but it had a working A/C, which is important to me because I live in the desert. It also got good gas mileage and I didn't really have any problems with it until the very end when I had a huge problem that actually totaled the car. But not including that, it was a good little car and I miss it.
Story
I took it on a short road trip to the beach once which was really fun. I wish I had gotten the chance to take it on more adventures but I really mostly just used it to go to work. I always planned on taking a few camping trips with it but never got the chance.
Pros
I was really happy with the A/C and heater. Quite a few cars I've had in the past have either had no A/C or a very weak A/C system, and I did not have that problem at all with this car. As I said before, I live in the desert and it usually gets to be around 100 degrees here in the summer so it's really nice to have a good, working A/C.
Cons
So the main negative thing, maybe the only negative thing, is that the car randomly caught fire one day and burned itself to death. I'm still not sure what happened, no one was able to ever give me any reason as to why that happened, I guess it was just a freak accident? Or maybe it was something I did but I'm not sure what because I didn't really do anything. I was driving home one day and all of a sudden it just stopped, so I pulled over (I was in my neighborhood, almost to my house) and as I was sitting there wondering what had happened and what I was going to do, the hood started smoki...
