This truck is best for me. It has extra seating allowing me to carry family members. It is also a bright blue color which is pleasing. The gas mileage is heavy, however storage space and winter driving is never a problem. The engine is solid for how old it is and I rarely have to add oil. The air conditioning is incredibly cold. I have only replaced the winter tires once in five years and have had no ride or suspension problems. I love to use this for medium trips. I dislike the way the back hatch closes when you have a long piece of wood or other equipment. The option to remove the back top would have been nice. Due to the low maintenance requirement and reliability I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mid size or larger SUV.
Story
Last year my family and I took a very comfortable trip to a cousin in the Adirondak mountains. The kids in the back played with ther computer comfortably and didnt complain once. Even through the mountains the truck drove well and didnt guzzle too much gas. We enjoyed many scenic views in the fall and had no slippage when it rained on our way home. We felt safe and comforable the whole rid... (more)
Pros
The Radio with CD is nice and works great. The different modes of drive (for example winter drive) helps handling. The additional O/D and Cruise control help me be comfortable towing and on highways. Automatic locks and optional starter package are very convenient, especially in the winter snows. The interior is a pleasant color (black) which requires little cleaning. Also the factory supplied floor mats are plastic which keeps most of the carpet looking new. The optional trailer hitch has helped me tow motorcycles and occasionally an RV. The seats are extremely comfortable with aut... (more)
Cons
The carpet is gray, which presents some cleanlineness issues from the kid's dirty feet in the back seat where there are no factory rubber floor mats. The trunk space is small when you do not flip the back seat down. Further, the worst thing is the inability to pack in long objects while leaving the glass window in the back open. Each time I transport these types of objects I fear I will break the back glass. The mirrors on the side of the vehicle offer little visibility in some spots causing me at least once to almost get in an accident on the highway. The car sits very high which is a... (more)

I got this vehicle used, and it has apparently stayed in good condition throughout its 15+ year life. I have not had any major issues with it on a mechanical level. It doesn't get the greatest fuel economy, but the engine is strong and powerful, the transmission is solid, and I hope to be driving it for years to come.
Story
My partner and I were looking for two to three new chickens, and all of the chicken ads we responded to fell through. But one afternoon, I texted the writer of one chicken ad, and they responded immediately, telling us to come pick them up that night. We loaded a couple of cat carriers in the car, hopped in the car, and drove out to the farm. We got to see the coop and all their chickens and d... (more)
Pros
I feel safe and in control behind the wheel of this car. The engine responds well when I accelerate, and it handles well in most weather. The heat and air conditioning work well and keep the car comfortable in any temperature. I've transported animals in it (including three cats at once for their vaccinations, and two chickens adopted from a local farm), and they have felt as safe and comfortable as they could while on a car ride.
Cons
The 4 Wheel Drive is not very reliable, makes strange sounds, and feels dangerously slippery in the snow because of this. It also has issues with the front passenger side door and the back gate - they don't want to open from the outside. It gets pretty bad fuel economy (the on-board computer says it gets 10.6 miles per gallon). This is pretty par for the course for an old SUV of this size, and I choose to drive one because the convenience of having a car big enough to load furniture or several animal carriers in outweighs the bad fuel economy for me.
