This is a solid, good looking vehicle and so versatile. I can haul trailers around the farm, and the boat on the weekends. And then unhook and haul the kids to ball practice...And fit any extra kids if needed because of the third row seat. It gets decent gas mileage for being a V8. It handles great on the road and in the wintertime it drives through anything. The only thing I dislike is that it seems to be rusting a lot for no older than it is.
Story
The first time we launched our new boat at the lake. It was a great memory and our Durango of course did not disappoint us! It pulled the trailer down the road and into and out of the water like it wasn't even back there. It was a great day.
Pros
The top positive things are the roominess, handling, and overall looks. I love how much room I have to haul anything and everyone I need. It is very powerful but does not guzzle too much gas.
Cons
The front seat is wearing out... A seam has already split. The air conditioner no longer works. There is a mysterious clunk coming from somewhere underneath the vehicle that my mechanic cannot seem to pinpoint where it is coming from or what it could be. There is too much rust on the bottom of the doors for no older than the vehicle is. There is also rust starting around the gas tank area.

Our family purchased our Dodge Durango in 2008, with it being 2 years old. We purchased used because, frankly, at the time we couldn't afford new. And our family was growing. My wife had just given birth to surprise twins. So, instead of one little bouncing bundle of joy, we got two. On top of our older daughter, we knew we could not fit three children into our Toyota Camry. So, shopping we went on our first day out of the hospital. We took the Durango from the show room for a test drive. Like many test drives it went quite smoothly. At this time, at 2 years old the vehicle only had 37K miles so we were extremely happy to get a vehicle with so few miles. The motor was quiet, and when you're carrying sleeping children that is a must.
Story
One morning my wife had to deliver a wedding cake. Most of the time we have professional movers come in and take care of this responsibility. But this was a last minute job and the professionals were not available. So, we removed the third seat, situated this beautiful, delicate cake into the back. Made sure it was as stable as could be for a 12 mile run, and held our breath as we made our... (more)
Pros
The doors opened and shut quietly and smoothly. The three children fit in with their car seats with no problem. My oldest daughter could get to her seat in the middle with no hassle. The handling of the vehicle is excellent. Luckily I do not live in an area where we get rough precipitation like snow, but we do get plenty of rain. Never have we had a problem slipping or sliding. The room in the back is very ample for groceries when we go shopping, or for large gifts when a birthday party arrives.
Cons
The only negative I have experienced was when we installed the third row seat. There is no room, if the back seat is full, for the children to have cups, CD's, etc.
