Solid family car
My husband and I were looking for a bigger car since we were welcoming our second child. We wanted a spacious car without purchasing a minivan. I really liked the build and design of the car. From the inside the car is very nice, with a big screen. The car has three rows, which makes the car spacious, but if you use the grow-with-me-type car seats, they take up a lot of room. Even though the car has three rows, we rarely use it, but it does make the trunk space even bigger. The drive of the car is nice and smooth for a bigger car, and makes driving super comfortable. The sound system is very nice, and the Bluetooth makes it super easy to connect with your phone, and the car has the option of android and apple car play. When it's hot outside, the AC system in the car is wonderful, and the controls for the other rows is easy to navigate. This is personal preference, but the color is my favorite part of the car, which is a dark grey, which makes the car look very sleek. Depending of the trim that one gets, you might have the option of getting the side mirrors with the sensor, which helps a lot, and the camera in the back of the car is very clear and the I love the fact that there are lines to help with parallel parking. Overall, the Ford Explorer is solid car to get!

A pretty decent car
Reliability wise good. Just long run maintenance is rigorous and pricey if you want to keep it for a long time. Had the brake booster check valve changed and brake booster hose assembly changed under warranty due to it having a vacuum leak. I owned it since July 2016 and only had to do regular maintenance on it. If you want to think long run, here's some things you need to know based on the 3.5L V6 naturally aspirated engine or turbo charged (Eco boost). The transmissions, regardless if it's the 6F50 (non Eco boost) or 6F55 (Eco boost) the fluid has to be changed every 30,000 miles if you want the transmission to last. The seals swell up once the fluid overheats (changing fluid will prevent the fluid from losing the additives that clean and cools the transmission) and the solenoids will short out if the fluid is contaminated.
