Hyundai would buy another one
Overall, I have been super pleased with this car. It is very fuel-efficient, smooth and quiet ride up until recently. It's a 13-year-old car, and it already has some creaks and squeaks within the last couple years. The audio system is pleasing, good sound for factory system. A comfortable ride with enough adjustable ability to the seats. This would be back and forward and up and down as well. The seat back can lean, plus has a lumbar support adjustment too. With my spinal issues, this is very good. All controls are easily accessed, as well as having volume and mode audio controls on the steering wheel. I also liked the middle console gear shift (automatic with a auto-shift option). This helped to keep the steering column uncluttered, plus easier control over changing gears. For what I need it for, a daily driver, the engine power was more than sufficient. Again, probably contributing to it's fuel-efficiency, the four-cylinder engine was perfect. Since becoming disabled, not driving anywhere often, I was usually able to fill up the car with gas only once a month.

Durable
I bought this car with 80,000 miles on it in 2014, and it has been working great. I had a few minor replacements that I needed, but everything has been a result of the previous owner not taking the best care of it. Overall the car is in great shape and runs great--just need to be careful to change the oil!

Unexpected Road Warrior
The 2006 Hyundai Sonata looks like a basic four door sedan, but outperforms in nearly every way. I work for the National Park Service and took it with me on five cross-country drives without a single problem. I also lived in some crazy places and it rarely had a problem on dirt roads. The traction control was great when I was living in Colorado during the winter, only failing at the point when four wheel drive was absolutely necessary. It’s also unexpectedly handy for driving through deep sand as well. It handles like a sports car and the engine is big enough to be fun. In the nine years I’ve owned it, I’ve only had to replace the brakes and the spark plugs once and they were right within their warranty. I also had an issue with the coolant system, but no mechanic has ever been able to figure out what’s wrong. The sound system is fabulous, but my model did not have any extra plugs for devices. It was 2006, so that would have been a luxury add on instead of a standard purchase. It’s lasted well beyond what I originally would have thought, and I’ll be extremely sad when it’s gone. It’s a great car!
