2015 Hyundai Sonata - Very pleased with exceeded expectations
When I first started car shopping, I was in the market for a simple vehicle that I could use for commuting to and from work and running errands. I didn't want to spend much as it is a secondary vehicle, and I didn't want to exceed my budget. That being said, with a low budget, my expectations were pretty low as well. However, the Hyundai Sonata has exceeded my expectations. I am quite impressed with the performance of this vehicle. The drive is smooth and it handles well. It looks clean and sleek. Of the color options available, I chose the teal blue which keeps a pretty clear appearance even when it could use a wash. My family and I are people of above average height, and there is plenty room for the driver, the front passenger and passengers in the back seat. The fuel efficiency is g... (more)

My family and I are people of above average height, and there is plenty room for the driver, the front passenger and passengers in the back seat. The fuel efficiency is great. I have come to expect pretty good fuel efficiency with Hyundai cars, and this one did not disappoint. While I enjoy many positive features about the Hyundai Sonata, there are a few down sides. The body of the car has a few dents and dings. It seems as if it is not sturdy enough to stand up to a neighboring car's opening door or random debris on the highway. I live in a hot and humid environment, and some days it take a while for the air conditioning to cool off. Overall, I am really pleased with most features of this car.
One of my most memorable moments while using the Hyundai Sonata was installing the baby's car seat. The car is equipped with features that allow you to use the LATCH system. However, I had challenges trying to use it along with the car seat I had. It was a good laugh when I realized I was overlooking the one button that made it all a breeze. In this case, it was mostly user-error.

One of m favorite things about most Hyundai vehicles is the fuel efficiency. Traveling by car, is required where I live. When making a car purchase, I consider fuel efficiency to be one of the most important factors. This car is very fuel efficient. It means that I don't have to stop off at the gas station as often, and I'm getting more bang for my buck. I enjoy the option of selecting my drive performance. This car has three options for driving performance, which include normal, economy, and turbo. Depending on the type of fuel used and the terrain, you can change how the care operates. U... (more)

Using the economy feature with the special economy fuel also allows me to get more miles per gallon increasing my fuel economy. One of my most useful features included in this car is the rear camera. I use this feature as a tool to back up safely when I am in reverse. The camera allows me to see any obstructions behind me. It also has markers that let you calculate where to go when backing up. It has become the easiest way to back into parking spaces. Since I am tall, leg room is always important. This car really spacious and allows me to be able to drive comfortably.
While I'm really a fan of the Hyundai brand, there are a few cons. The exterior finish was gorgeous at first. I've had the car a little over two years, and I have noticed that it is not as nice as it was originally. There are small dents and dings in the sides. The small dent took the paint off and now shows a small rusted dot. I've driven other cars along the same roads, and I've never noticed this type of wear to occur, especially in a two year time period. They are small blemishes and hardly noticeable, but I see the car everyday and pick up on small details. I also have noticed that th... (more)

I also have noticed that the during the midst of summer, the air conditioner does not cool off quickly enough. In the winter, the heat kicks in almost immediately. However, when it's hot and humid, the inside of the car is like a sauna. I roll down the windows and turn the dials all the way up and it takes five–ten minutes for the car to cool off. By then, I have started to perspire in my clothing. This really became a problem when I was pregnant and leaving the house in 100+ degree weather.
2015 Hyundai Sonata - Excellent car with great gas mileage.
My Hyundai Sonata has served me quite well for the past 2.5 years. I bought it with just a few thousand miles on it in 2015, and it currently has 32,000 miles. I've driven it on long (~10-hour) drives up and down the east coast several times with no issues, but I typically use it for suburban driving around my neighborhood, to and from work, and downtown. Mostly, I love the gas mileage I get with this vehicle. I fill the tank once every 2-3 weeks, it holds about 15 gallons, and gas expenses aren't even something I think much about. It has a feature to switch into "ECO" mode, which seems to make a difference as well in saving gas and maximizing fuel efficiency. Repairs haven't been costly for me either. I take it in for routine oil/filter changes for about $60 per year ($15/visit), and ... (more)

I take it in for routine oil/filter changes for about $60 per year ($15/visit), and the service guys at the dealership have always been friendly and honest with me. Further, this car looks pretty good--many of my peers have mistaken it for a luxury line vehicle of another brand upon first glance, and I get a good number of compliments on it.
I once used my car to rescue my neighbor's lost dog. He had gotten out of the electric fence and walked several miles down the road to a massive highway where he easily could've been run over by the traffic, but we found him by the side of the road; he climbed into the back seat of the Sonata, crashed and took a nap. We were so relieved, and the dog was probably completely unfazed, but my back... (more)

The best aspects of this vehicle are gas mileage, slick appearance, durability, reliability, tech features, and low cost of maintenance. The gas mileage is commendable and has saved me a lot in the few years I've owned it, and I can drive 500 miles on a full tank without having to stop for a refill. Friends have complimented my car on its appearance, and the design works for men and women. I've driven this car in poor conditions, too, and it's stood up relatively well compared to competitors. Its reliability is also such a plus--I've never once worried about it getting me from point A to point B, regardless of the distance, and I've never had any major repairs. Surprisingly, the storage space in the rear of the Sonata is also a huge bonus. You wouldn't appreciate it without opening the trunk, but there's a ton of space back there and you can fit several large suitcases worth of gear. There's also built-in back-up camera, which I completely underestimated before trying out (now I use it regularly), as well as Bluetooth and a USB port for your smart phone.
There are a few drawbacks to this vehicle, though they're far outweighed by the advantages previously mentioned. First, there's no four-wheel drive, so if you're in a region hit hard by snow, ice, and sleet on a regular basis, I'd opt for a different car. Though better than other sedans I've driven, the Sonata does skid, slip, slide, and spin on black ice, and it can't plow through snow very well. I've only had it while living in the South, though, so this hasn't been much of an issue. Second, there aren't heated seats, and that'd be a cool feature. Again, though, I live in the South, so I... Again, though, I live in the South, so I'll survive. Minor detail, but I personally think the vehicle would look cooler with black interior instead of beige, but maybe other versions of this model come with better color options. Finally, there isn't the best lumbar support in this car. It's pretty good--and better than many others, but I've dealt with some minor chronic back pain since playing sports in college, and I usually roll up a towel or something else for added lumbar support on longer drives. All things considered--great car, would buy again, would definitely recommend to others.
