The Dodge Dakota is a good vehicle for those who need a truck to haul things, but also need passenger capacity. At ten years old, the paint job is almost new with very little rusting. In the previous year, I have had no problems with starting. At this point, the vehicle is close to reaching 200,000 miles, which will naturally cause some problems to occur. Recently, I have noticed a ticking sound when the car is first started. I have had no major breakdowns. The only major repair I have had to conduct was replacing a ball joint that became broken after sliding into a curb on and icy road.
Story
I drove my truck down to look at places to live around my new job with my sister. This was memorable because I knew I would not get to see her much after moving four hours away.
Pros
The vehicle is ten years old and still looks new. Overall, the truck runs as good as can be expected for a decade old vehicle.
Cons
The gas mileage in this truck is similar to that of a full sized Dodge pickup. If you are looking to save money on gas, buying this smaller pickup will do very little.

Overall, the Dodge Dakota is a wonderful truck. I have had minimal problems with it, and I have driven it over 100,000 months. The MPG is not bad with 17 city and 28 highway. It is a quad cab, so it has plenty of room for my children or friends in the back. It's nice and roomy the bed is a little short, but it's good for not hauling a whole bunch of things. It is four-wheel drive and runs great in snow, rain and all other weather. It has a sleek and nice look to it. The radio has an import for auxiliary which I like because that I can play my iPod on it. Would be better if it had a five-disc CD changer. I like that there is a warning light when blinker lights or tail lights go out. Overall, I would buy this truck again.
Story
A memorable story for this vehicle would be when it was icing out. The truck kept very good traction on the highways. I was able to make it safely to the town that I work in. But when coming to a stop at a stoplight, my vehicle did not stop. It slid right on through. Thankfully, the horn worked well. I laid on the horn and let the other people know I was not stopping. They stopped, and there w... (more)
Pros
Positive things are the miles per gallon of the truck. Easy to handle -- not too big not too small. Plenty of room for taking things with you. It has comfortable seats. Gets around good and all weather. Nice sound system unit for factory. Nice large readable get gauges and display. Has averaged MPG that you can look at along with temperature and direction you're driving. Chrome bumpers and nice tail lights.
Cons
The four-wheel drive and this year's pickup has issues and has gone out on mine as well. Every problem that this year and make had, so did my truck. MPG could be better. Only have a single-disc CD player. No premium sound system. Headlights and tail lights are hard to change. The bolts and nuts on this vehicle go between metric and standard which is a pain. Some parts are too expensive to replace. Ball joints have gone out numerous times for no reason.
