2000 Ford Expedition - Ok for an American car but Ford clearly doesn't stand behind their cars.

The one thing I liked about the car was that it was very spacious and had plenty of room. I was able to seat eight to nine adults comfortably and still had room for some luggage. The back seats folded, which provided a huge compartment to allow for virtually anything you would put in a car. There times I carried sheets of 4x8 plywood and eight-feet lumber. Another thing I liked about the truck was the power in the engine. It had tremendous torque and was able to pull a fifth wheel with ease. The 5.7 liter engine had no problem reaching high speeds in a relatively short amount of time. Despite its power, there are many drawbacks. Ford is notorious for their cheap paint. Their paint jobs probably last five years—at the most—before you start noticing the color fading or cracking.... (more)

I had to get supplies for a remodel job, but the delivery fee for the materials was very expensive. Fortunately, I was able to load a bunch of the materials in the truck. After a few trips, I save a few hundred dollars in delivery costs.
A Favor
The best aspects of a Ford Expedition has to be its design, power in its engines, and its spacious interior. It has a nice design that is sleek. The newer designs, however, are a little boxy for my taste but still nice. Its interior is simple yet elegant. The leather seats are a definite positive feature and adds to the modern look of the interior. The dash has a nice contemporary but racy look. Its 5.7 liter engine is a beast and can tow virtually anything with ease. I was able to tow a fifth wheel with relative ease, even driving up the Grape Vine. Freeways are not an issue, and ... (more)
En Contra
The list can go on with this but a few of the top negative aspects of the vehicle are as follows: Paint. As previously mentioned, Ford is notorious for cheap paint. Whether they have corrected that or not is unknown, but I experienced the cheapness of the paint within five years of owning my truck. I noticed that there was cracking that started only after a couple of years but didn't think too much of it. But after five years, the paint starting lifting off the truck and eventually peeled off. Another negative factor is the fuel efficiency. 13 miles per gallon is literally a gas-guz... (more)

The best feature on this car was the large amount of space for passengers. There is plenty of leg room in all three rows, and you can fit eight adults easily inside. Beyond that, I had a lot of issues with this vehicle. I do not feel it is built well. We have had a lot of mechanical as well as structural issues. It is also a major gas guzzler.
Historia
When we first had it, before the mechanical issues got really bad, which did not take long, we enjoyed going on a family vacation to see grandma and grandpa. Everyone was able to spread out.
A Favor
There is room for eight adults with plenty of leg room. There are a ton of cup holders, more then needed for eight passengers. Heated front seats...while they worked.
En Contra
Frame bends easily when rear ended. This happened two times with very small vehicles hitting us. I have never had a car have a bent frame from being rear ended before, and this one did it twice! No cargo room unless you take out the back row thus reducing passenger room, and it is a pain to get in and out. The sun roof leaked terribly. We purchased the vehicle at 130,000 miles (a very normal mileage for us to buy vehicles at), and in less then a month, I had to make repairs to the engine. We could not afford to fix all the cylinders at once, so we had to replace the broken parts one at a t... (more)
