2014 Ford F-150 - Great all around truck
Great 4 x 4 truck for off roading. I like the four wheel drive especially while driving in deep soft sand in the desert.
It fits the whole family comfortably.
It tows a travel trailer with plenty of power and torque.

It gets very good gas mileage for a truck.
It has excellent power for a v-6.
Comfortable seating throughout.
Looks stylish.

It's a great truck, but too expensive.
I'm not sure how well the aluminum engine will last.
Should have a larger standard gas tank.
It can be difficult to park in tight spaces.

2014 Ford F-150 - F-150, a great all around truck.
I bought my F-150 used with only about 20,000 miles on. I've had it a few years, and it has a little over 45k now. It's been a great, reliable truck so far. It starts up every time, hasn't had any repair issues, and maintenance has been a breeze. It's styled nicely too, with a two-toned color scheme and piping down the side. It did have one small issue with the passenger side wiper not working correctly, but it turned out to be a simple wiring issue that was easily resolved at the dealership. Mine has a second row of seats, which is really helpful for towing the family around or even just hanging out with the boys. Most people don't realize, the F-150 actually has a full-size rear door; something that the Dodge Ram was lacking. When trying to squeeze two car seats in the back, having ... (more)

Most people don't realize, the F-150 actually has a full-size rear door; something that the Dodge Ram was lacking. When trying to squeeze two car seats in the back, having this full-size door is a blessing. The interior is slightly on the cheap side, but that's to be expected in a truck. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a "dainty" interior; I want something that can get a little dirty on the inside. Overall, the F-150 is a tough, reliable truck that also makes a fantastic family vehicle, especially for those love the outdoors. With it's full-sized cabin and bed, you'll have plenty of room to work with.
Taking my boys out camping and hunting in the Carolina backwoods had to be the most memorable experience involving this truck. We had the thing loaded up, two men and two boys, along with all manner of hunting and hiking gear, food, camping supplies and beer. Even with a fully loaded truck, it's 4x4 capabilities handled the slick and muddy terrain fabulously. We did have a small hiccup out near pope field, after a particularly heavy downpour. For a brief moment, I thought we were going to have to call in reinforcements to come tow us out. Thankfully, my F-150 came equipped with a tow package that included hooks and a tow wench to the front. If it wasn't for some of these add-ons, like the wench and the all-terrain tires, I would probably still be stuck out there. Nonetheless, I think it was the truck that was the deciding factor on whether or not the trip was a success. Looking at that truck covered top to bottom in mud made me realize that I made the right decision on this vehicle.
Its reliability is really second to none. I haven't had a single mechanical hiccup with this truck, not even once. In the dead of winter, it starts up just fine, like nothing's even happened. Mine has 4x4--something I highly recommend. I've taken this truck on a few camping trips through the Carolina backwoods, and it's 4x4 has performed well every single time. Another great plus to this truck is the size of its cabin. In the front seat, you can comfortable fit three adults across, along with four in the back seat. People sitting in the middle don't have to settle for a lap belt either: they get a full belt and shoulder strap. Finally, my favorite aspect of this truck is its size. It easily sits a whole feet above other cars on the road. You can see blocked traffic up ahead, obstructions in the road, or even someone whose driving too slow. Once you make the transition to driving in a higher truck, it's difficult to go back to a regular car that's only ten inches off the ground.
I had one small problem with it in the three years I've owned it: The passenger side windshield wiper was malfunctioning. I thought it was a defective part, as it was intermittently responsive. Turns out, it was just a simple wiring mistaken, as was taken care of at the dealership rather quickly. I've heard from sound people that the transmissions on this model year F-150 are unreliable, and sometimes they wear out early at around 70,000. I personally don't have this many miles on the truck, and I don't tow anything; hopefully I'll never have this issue. For most people, the only real prob... (more)

For most people, the only real problem that they'll ever have with this truck is that so many other people are driving them. Mine's pretty unique with pinstripes and a two-toned color scheme, but I still see similar trucks out on the road. If having a unique vehicle is something that's important to you, I wouldn't recommend this truck, as there's so many others on the road. Thankfully though, there is a plethora of aftermarket parts available.
