2006 Hyundai Santa Fe - A steady, reliable and efficient SUV.

The 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe is a very solid SUV. Although not the sleekest vehicle in the world, it provides pretty good fuel economy (for an older car and for an SUV, that is) and wonderful control. The interior is comfortable without being too "open", and the trunk contains plenty of room for small furniture and other things. The controls are pretty responsive, and I didn't have to start making major repairs until around the 90,000 mile mark. I would recommend this make and model to anyone who wants something with more space than a sedan but who also doesn't mind a more economy-driven option.
Story
I had my first date in this SUV, and I'll leave it at that! But in all seriousness, I traveled everywhere with this vehicle. When my exhaust was acting up, my neighbors used to joke that I was driving a monster truck. After I got it fixed for an affordable price (and let's be real, at 110k mileage such a repair is normal) they were impressed with how smooth it was accelerating.
Pros
The best features are the price (I got mine for 2,500 USD) and the roomy, comfortable interior. The acceleration and handling are great for SUVs, and there's plenty of space in the back. I also like the overall look of the vehicle: it's pretty bold and gender neutral, as nothing is overly sleek or boxy.
Cons
It is an older model (2006), so most vehicles will have quite a bit of mileage. I did have to start making fairly substantial repairs after the 90k mile marker (brakes, exhaust, power steering) so be prepared to sink some money into it. It's very important to maintain this vehicle to avoid extra repairs.

I have traditionally only owned American SUV's. I had to buy this car in a rush right before a move. It has turned out to be one of my favorites even though it's not as big or sturdy looking as American models. It handles great and I've had relatively few mechanical problems with it. It also has a great sound system. It has a high idle and sometimes takes off too fast though. It also had a faulty battery but that was a relatively easy fix. It has plenty of room for all of my painting gear. I like that it has a sunroof and leather seats as well. Heated seats too which are great. It's a little odd looking compared to the explorers I traditionally drive, but I think it looks cute overall. it also doesn't have as much power...it got stuck in wet grass once, but I don't usually have to go o... Story
I live in New Orleans so it floods when it rains a lot. once I had to drive the car through water that almost went up to the doors. it was kind of scary but I made it out okay.
Pros
It runs smooth and fast. It has a sun roof and leather heated seats. It has room for all my painting gear.
Cons
It idles high and sometimes takes off unexpectedly. Not much power for off-roading. Looks a bit odd.
