2008 Hyundai Santa Fe - Reliable, simple, comfortable, good trunk space.
I've had this Hyundai Santa Fe for many years. What I've got to say is that if you are looking for a car that is multi purposed, attractive and performs reliably, look no farther! The Hyundai Santa Fe 2008, although it may be an earlier model, it has displayed its value with how easily it can be resold. Okay, I'm not the most technical driver, so if you are looking for a car with all of the latest dashboard gimmicks, this is not for you. If you are looking for a car that has solid performance, very fair miles per gallon for a mid sized SUV, common sense features and keeps its market value, then this car is the car for you. This automobile drives very straight, it handles very well. Very flexible car with great trunk space with internal modifications possible. This model of the Hyundai ... (more)

This model of the Hyundai Santa Fe is very comfortable to sit in, and has very solid safety features and performance. I would recommend this car to anyone, even if it is used. Just keep her oiled up and the design does the rest! Great for the salary man/woman, great for road trips, and a great gift for that 16 year old who just learned how to drive!
In particular, I've come to the conclusion that a memorable experience I've had with this vehicle was when a friend of mine who leases, and changes cars every 2 years drove my 2008 Hyundai upstate for a wedding we had to go to. He is always driving the latest and believes that the newer a car, the better and safer it is. While this may be true when looking at a particular and single model, it ... (more)

He is always driving the latest and believes that the newer a car, the better and safer it is. While this may be true when looking at a particular and single model, it isn't true for many of the new models of cars which use electronic chips for steering. As we were headed upstate for this wedding he had asked me what fuel I put in my car, because he was so shocked at the handling and performance on the road. I just looked at him and shook my head, I told him I just take it for regular checkups and oil changes. He couldn't believe how well it was driving, and he had actually returned one of his last two leases on a limited edition car for a steering/alignment and sensitive gas pedal issue. I just shook my head and said well, that's a Santa Fe, though I really couldn't tell him to change his habits. He always wants to drive my car when he goes for long distance trips.
Oh, positive things about this automobile? There are so many to list! Let me start by saying that this car is generously spacious on the inside, for how sleek and beautiful and modern its design is from the outside. This car has really good handling and power with a very responsive gas pedal. I've had a few friends and family who drive different cars take the wheel and smile. With this car, if you like, the trunk can be used for lots and lots of storage. If you like compartments, this car likes you. If you like multiple uses and a flexible rear end of the car in regards to expansion of storage, this car likes you. If you just need a car that gets the job done, monitors the most vital information, while still having room for the most basic things like XM radio, power windows, air conditioning etc. Why spend so much money for whistles and trinkets on another car? The Hyundai Santa Fe is probably one of the most versatile cars I've ever driven and to top it off, maintenance and service is simple with how common Hyundai dealers are and how available the Hyundai parts are on the market, like windshield wipers and carbon filters. This car has good highway performance, good break performance and is economical with all things considered. If you're still on your seat about this purchase, then maybe you're not looking for an affordable, solid and attractive option.
If you were to force me to list cons, I almost take that as a downer! I certainly, definitely and surely have no regrets with owning this vehicle. For my uses, this vehicle has lived up to exactly what a car is good for. But in order to be critical and in order for complete transparency, I will list a few things that might be a deal breaker for the type of person this car might not be for. First of all, this car is not the most modern, it is a 2008 Hyundai with basic, true and reliable features. The driver seat must be manually adjusted and does not have an automated power slide. First of all, this car is not the most modern, it is a 2008 Hyundai with basic, true and reliable features. The driver seat must be manually adjusted and does not have an automated power slide. Although I must say, the manual slide is so easy and smooth like butter that I feel weightless moving the seat back or forward, raising the seat or pivoting the seat. Another possible con, might be that the car sometimes auto locks when the keys are not in the ignition, and the engine is not on. So just be wary of this when you are at the gas station and keep your keys on your person or a remote on your key chain. Not bad I say, although I'm having trouble coming up with cons for this car, I've been very happy with my purchase and I still have this automobile. The one final con, could be that the fuel economy is not perfect. It's not a 10mph gas furnace, mind you. but it isn't a hybrid electric new kid on the block. So it is very economical, very solid, performs well for a very long time with some proper maintenance and is great for the 9-5 worker, the retired person or even the family outing. It's got a few minor things about it that might not make it perfect for everyone, but none of these cons affect its appearance, its function and utility.
2008 Hyundai Santa Fe - Wouldn't buy it used
I ran into a bunch of problems with this car that made it more of a hassle than anything. First of all, the suspension had severe issues that turned out to be very standard Hyundai problems specific to the Santa Fe. Wish I had known that before I purchased it. The air bag light sensor was recalled, and the dealership sold it to me anyway. I had to go get that fixed. The inside door handles warped because of humidity and moisture. They started to look terrible less than a year of me owning the car. The vinyl material the inside of the doors were made of was cheap and melted stickily to your hands when it was hot. It was nice being in a small truck. The trunk was decent size. The backseat was rather small. There was not much leg room.

I drove to Tennessee with my boyfriend for a road trip before our first child was born. It was our baby moon, and this car got us all the way there and back. It was awesome.

The car was a pretty blue color. It had sparkles in the paint - that was super nice. The front seats were comfy. I could rest my feet up. The car sat up high enough that you could just slide in but not too high where you had to step up into the car. It was also like a compact SUV, so it was able to fit into parking spots pretty easily. It was super easy to navigate the vehicle.

The seats were impossible to clean. The radio sucked, and it had no aux cord.
