2007 Hyundai Santa Fe - Not a fan, too many issues
My 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe has been more work then it's worth. It has been in the shop at least five times in the less then three years that I've owned it. The ride itself is very smooth, and I get great gas mileage. I absolutely love the color, and it has enough trunk space to hold a wheel chair, crutches and a walker. It has had many issues, and none covered under warranty. For the amount of money I spend every month on the payments, I truly expected a car with less issues.
Story
Love throwing my surfboard and my dogs in the back and heading to the beach. The dogs play on the beach while I surf. It's a very relaxing experience.
Pros
Great gas mileage. Love the color and the interior is very comfortable. I love that it has a remote start and heated seats. The sun roof is a great added feature as well. The back seats fold completely down, so I'm able to pack the back and trunk to the max.
Cons
Too many issues to list. The gas gauge went within weeks of purchasing the vehicle. The speedometer and odometer have worked and then not worked for most of my owning this vehicle. The passenger side window falls off the track often, and I have removed the door to fix it multiple times. Just a complete lemon.
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe - Good first child car
We got the Santa Fe once we realized that we needed more than a car for our newborn baby. It was a nice fit for our little one and the two of us. The three-seat area in the back gives enough room for the baby and someone else or other luggage. It has a nice radio that is easy for us to use while traveling and allows you to play some CDs which, although old technology, is a must for a little one. We feel very safe in this car and are never nervous when our son is in the back. It is well made, the seats are comfortable, and it drives well. It doesn't drive like a van but definitely drives better than a car. Ours has 69,000 miles and still looks brand new after numerous trips all winter long and many long vacations to the in-laws. Overall it is just a quality vehicle that is perfect for a... (more)
Story
I drove this through an awful blizzard in Northern Ohio all the way down to Cleveland. It doesn't have all-wheel drive, but I didn't get stuck once in the very deep snow on the way downtown.
Pros
The radio system is nice and simple to use. The child lock is very effective. It can be very nice to drive on long trips, because it does not feel like you are driving a large SUV. It has handled some very treacherous blizzards quite well. The biggest pro, however, is it is perfect for a one-child family.
Cons
The cons are the trunk space can be quite small. It is not awful but with another child, we would be cramped. The locking system seems to always lock when I least want it to. It doesn't have all-wheel drive included, so we have to be careful in the snow.
