2000 Toyota Tacoma Owner Ratings & Reviews

2000 Toyota Tacoma - One of the very best and most reliable trucks to ever be built.
The Toyota Tacoma TRD is one of the best trucks to ever be built. It's very sturdy, can definitely take damage, and has a very powerful engine to pull almost anything imaginable out there. The truck is pretty high off the ground, so you can see way ahead of you and at the same time feel very safe. The interior is very basic, yet functional. The stereo may not be the greatest, but it's really used mostly for outdoor activities, off-roading, or work. After owning this truck for many years, Toyota no longer makes the Tacoma with the long bed and has added in two more back seats, so the overall length is the same, but the bed of the truck is greatly reduced. This truck is highly prized by those who own it, due to the long bed and can carry almost anything out there.
Story
Heading to the dog park with the dog in the bed of the truck and with the camper on, he pokes his head through the little window for air on the drives there.
Pros
The truck can carry anything from surfboards to lumber to build a new house. Add on a winch and the thing can pull anything out and then some. With a powerful V6 engine and developed by Toyota Racing Development, you can be sure that this truck will give you the power you need to climb hills and be fine off-roading. With the addition of the RR differential, you have little to worry about if you're on the beach and need to get through the sand.
Cons
This truck ages well on the outside, but the interior, if not careful can degrade quite quickly. Since the truck is usually used for work or rough trips, regular maintenance is needed. The stereo is not the best and the seats are a bit uncomfortable on long trips. The gas mileage on the truck is not that great either, but for long distance, it is worth it.
2000 Toyota Tacoma - Best car I have ever owned.
My Toyota Tacoma is an amazing pick-up truck. I have had it for approximately 17 years now with great reliability. My truck has run well since the day I purchased it and still continues to run well. I love having a truck bed which allows me to transport larger items that wouldn't typically fit in most other cars. I do dislike that it doesn't have a backseat though. I find it difficult to carry important valuables in my car due to the little room in the truck cabin.
Story
One of my most memorable occasions with my vehicle was when I was traveling to Reno and almost ran out of gas. I was able to stretch out the tank of gas and make it to the closest gas station but this was the closest I had been to running out.
Pros
The top thing about this truck is how reliable it is. It has not given me any difficulty in the 17 years I have owned it. It runs exceptionally, gets adequate gas mileage, and it allows me to carry supplies I wouldn't be able to carry in other cars. Its very dependable and affordable and that has allowed me to keep this car with very little maintenance.
Cons
One of the biggest cons of a small pickup truck is the 2-seat cabin. Without an indoor backseat, carrying valuable items becomes difficult due to lack of space. Gas mileage, although adequate, could also be better like most newer cars on the market today. Lastly, I wish that the truck wasn't as small as it is. It doesn't allow for a large tow-load.
