Toyota Tacoma - A Practical Reliable Vehicle
Overall I love my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I got it used with 30,000 miles for a very good price. In the past four years I've put around 60,000 miles on it. So far it's been a great buy. The truck is very basic - climate control, a stereo/cd player, air bags for both riders, and an automatic gear box. It has a I4 engine and gets roughly 20mpg on average which isn't great but isn't awful. It makes up for this by having a large 21 gallon fuel tank. I can usually travel around 400 miles between fill ups. The engine is small but powerful and relatively quiet. The suspension is a little stiff and you sometimes feel the road too much for my liking. But generally it's a fairly smooth ride. The windshield wipers have two settings "slow" and "fast". The mirrors, locks, bench seat and windows are all manually controlled. The windows provide good visibility with minimal blind spots. The bed is 6 feet by 5 feet, fantastic for hauling all sorts of different loads. I think the truck can handle up to 2,500 pounds but I've never come close to that. It is a rear wheel drive. The tires are large, providing good traction, and the brakes are responsive. The gears shift smoothly and quickly. It's a good truck all around. It's great for a bachelor but wouldn't work for a large family. It's great for hauling and provides an optimal choice for a small to mid sized pickup truck.

Very pleased
I have had the Toyota Tacoma for 9 years now and have always been pleased with it!! I have had minimal repairs done to it and the most expensive service done to it was new tires. It has been dependable and cost effective. The room in it has accommodated my lifestyle quite well until recently with the birth of my daughter. If we did not need more room in a vehicle, we certainly would purchase another Tacoma. My husband is an avid fisher and the bed of the truck accommodates all of his fishing gear he takes to the beach!! My only disappointment with the Tacoma is how the paint job has held up on it. About 4 years ago, the hood started fading and paint chipping off. I have owned several Toyotas previous to this one and have never experienced this. I truly feel it is a defect in the paint.
