I have had the Toyota Tacoma for 9 years now and have always been pleased with it!! I have had minimal repairs done to it and the most expensive service done to it was new tires. It has been dependable and cost effective. The room in it has accommodated my lifestyle quite well until recently with the birth of my daughter. If we did not need more room in a vehicle, we certainly would purchase another Tacoma. My husband is an avid fisher and the bed of the truck accommodates all of his fishing gear he takes to the beach!! My only disappointment with the Tacoma is how the paint job has held up on it. About 4 years ago, the hood started fading and paint chipping off. I have owned several Toyotas previous to this one and have never experienced this. I truly feel it is a defect in the paint.
Story
We have had many great memories with this Tacoma!! Most favorite is our many trips to the beach.
Pros
Most favorite things about vehicle: how high up you sit, you can see quite well in this vehicle. The dependability and safety features as well. And the peace of mind that your Toyota will last.
Cons
It is not a good choice for families with children, especially if this is your main vehicle. The paint not lasting as long as we feel it should.

Overall I love my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I got it used with 30,000 miles for a very good price. In the past four years I've put around 60,000 miles on it. So far it's been a great buy. The truck is very basic - climate control, a stereo/cd player, air bags for both riders, and an automatic gear box. It has a I4 engine and gets roughly 20mpg on average which isn't great but isn't awful. It makes up for this by having a large 21 gallon fuel tank. I can usually travel around 400 miles between fill ups. The engine is small but powerful and relatively quiet. The suspension is a little stiff and you sometimes feel the road too much for my liking. But generally it's a fairly smooth ride. The windshield wipers have two settings "slow" and "fast". The mirrors, locks, bench seat and windows are all... (more)
Story
I loved driving around the beach with the windows rolled down in the summer. The truck did great on packed sand driving down the beach. It was so nice to feel the wind blowing through the cab while listening to music with friends. I even had people sitting in the bed with all our beach gear. It was super fun and convenient to have for this.
Pros
I like the visibility and height of the truck. I can easily see around me and most cars are lower than I am. I love the sturdy truck bed. I've moved several times with this vehicle and have managed to get a ton of things into that little truck. It's extremely convenient for this. I love the power the small I4 engine puts out; it easily reaches 60mph and has no trouble gliding through gears. I also like that it doesn't have a bunch of power options. I don't have to worry about my electronics failing in the windows, seat, locks or mirrors.
Cons
The truck only has two wiper settings. It needs a third intermittent setting. I find myself flicking the wiper switch constantly during very light rain. The back window needs to come stock tinted. I had to get an aftermarket tint on the back window. It is very large which was great for visibility. But the way it's positioned causes a huge amount of light to pour in at night. The light would hit my rear view mirror and blind me before I got it tinted. The truck is terrible in snow. I would easily lose traction in snow if I went above 15mph. The back is too light and all of the power is conc... (more)
