I love my truck! I bought it because everyone says Toyotas last forever. So far, at around 120,000 miles, I'd have to agree with that statement. There have been no major issues, no problems and nothing negative. Bought primarily as a car to get me safely to and from the snow as a bachelor, it has now transformed beautifully into a family car. It is big enough for family vacations comfortably, yet small enough that my 5 year old son can get in and out by himself. It gets decent gas mileage compared to many other trucks, yet still has the power and four wheel drive that one would want and need. I also love that the truck is big enough for my needs, but small enough to park in a cramped San Francisco parking garage. Not every truck can say that! Lastly, I love the simple yet elega... (more)
Story
My favorite memory about the truck was camping in the bed on a warm summer night. The 5 foot bed was big enough for 2 people to sleep in comfortably with the tailgate down. Falling asleep under the stars was hard to beat!
Pros
I love that the maintenance of the car is relatively easy. I'm not a car person, but I'm able to do my own oil changes without any problems. The drain plug is easy to locate without jacking the car up and the filter is easy to reach. In less than 10 minutes, I am able to fully flush all the old oil out and replace it with brand new oil. I also love that oil changes are largely all that need to be done, at least for the first 100,000 miles. While other cars require major service every 15,000 miles, the Toyota Tacoma keeps on trucking on. I also love the 6 cylinder engine. It has plen... (more)
Cons
This truck is not all perfect though. I don't like the lack of auxiliary jack for my phone to connect to. I frequently want to stream music in my car on long trips, and there is no easy way to do that. I initially had a fm modulator, but those are terrible. In the end, I installed an aftermarket auxiliary plug, which was a breeze to install, but it is less desirable than having a plug direct form the manufacturer. There is also no Bluetooth capabilities, so you really have to rely on an aftermarket plug if you want to connect a phone, etc. I also was not in love with the way the Toyota... (more)

I love this vehicle because it has seemed to last forever. I am now at 314,000+ miles on the vehicle, and the only issue I've pretty much had was with driveline vibration that Toyota had a recall on and fixed it. Other than that, it has been routine maintenance. The interior of the vehicle is of good quality that has lasted for 12 years now, and that is with the punishment of children. The stereo in the Tacoma could be better though.
Story
I wouldn't say it was fun, but it was memorable. In February, I took a trip with the family around town, and it was flooding everywhere. We went down one street to a roadblock, turned around to head another way just to run into another roadblock. This went on for a couple of hours, and we were afraid of things getting worse .I ran into a section of road where the water was over the road but on... (more)
Pros
Dependability is the top positive thing I can mention because that's the main goal for any vehicle I would think. I bought it brand new in 2007, and it is still going. I've heard of others trading in at 400k miles with it still running well. My favorite feature would be the double cab, so with kids, I can take them to activities in the truck with no problem (don't have to rely on only our car). Also, of course is the truck bed for hauling everything we need to haul. It is a favorite feature, but that would be with any truck. Also, the handling of this truck is wonderful that can handle cur... (more)
Cons
My main negative thing with the vehicle would be the driveline issue mentioned earlier. The truck would shake horribly at around 40+ mph. Luckily, Toyota stepped up to the plate and extended a warranty to fix the issue. Haven't had the problem since, and that was 100k miles ago. Another negative thing would be the gas mileage. Of course, trucks aren't know or built for great gas mileage, but I wish the highway mileage would be better for the Tacoma.
