Favorite car I've owned.
Mustang is known for the being the "classic, affordable muscle car" and that is absolutely true. I bought a black paint, black leather interior, black convertible top GT in the spring of 2016 from Raleigh, North Carolina. The mustang was sitting on the lot with only 79k original miles with a one owner, garage kept, meticulously maintained record. The inside was clean, no tears in the leather seats or holes worn through the carpet. It was a non-smoking car and there was no odors or ash anywhere in the vehicle. The engine started first try even after sitting on the lot for months, and once temperature had balanced, it sounded strong and properly maintained. The exhaust note from idle had slight "lop" but wasn't loud enough to wake the neighbors up. I took the car for a test drive when first looking at it, and the ride felt amazing and the car glided over the road with ease. The next thing I noticed was the power delivery which is smooth in the top end, but a little "torque"-y in the bottom end of the RPM range. Finally, when I finally went WOT, the exhaust note opened up and gave the deep muscle car growl that I had been looking for. Comparing this to my previous car, which was a Jeep Grand Cherokee, the mustang out performs the Jeep in every aspect apart from seating capacity and off-road ability.

A hidden gem in the sand if you stick it out
I purchased this car roughly six years ago. It's been up and down at times, usually due to small nuisances such as electrical issues, but the good far outweighs the bad. The car is strong running, easily modded, and can last a very long time if maintained well. You must keep up on maintenance though. When these get past 150k miles, a lot of small nagging things can happen. The drivability of the car is usually not affected however. The design is cool, the speed and torque is great, the interior is nice but cheap and flimsy at times. The nice thing about these cars is if you get a mid-'90s model, you can easily mod a few things and have a car with a look that still hangs well today. The 4.6L 2V engine is arguably the best-sounding Mustang engine, even till this day - and is very strong even up past 200,000 miles. Basic rule of thumb is - oil change, fuel filter change, and clean air / fuel with these cars. Overall, I'd recommend this car. If you find a good condition version, snap it up, as they will only get more rare and higher in price. As a final rating, I give this car a 8.5 out of 10. It's not the best but when it runs, it roars.
