No Frills, but Everything I Want
I have driven my Ford Ranger for about 5 years and I am very pleased with it. Most new cars that I drive operate like toys and have way too much control for a small movement in the brakes, gas or steering wheel. This car feels like actually driving the car.

My Ford Ranger is a workhorse.
Since I purchased my Ford Ranger I have been very happy with it. Despite buying it used from a previous owner that had neglected preventative maintenance, I have had no issues in my part of the 85,000 miles it has been driven. It has been very dependable and rugged work vehicle for my job, which often takes me on gravel and poorly maintained roads. It has held up very well with no issues, and has not gotten stuck yet, despite not having four wheel drive. While the cab is far from roomy it is comfortable, and the compactness of the vehicle certainly helps with fuel economy. I typically get up to 26 mpg on the highway and a little less around town. My favorite part is the truck bed of course, small enough to make parking easy, but big enough to haul just about anything. From lumber to my kayak, my Ranger has gotten me from point A to point B without a problem. In the end this truck went from one I was unsure of to a brand and model I will definitely buy again, this time new.

Great truck, if vehicle size is a concern.
I purchased the 2004 Ford Ranger from a classmate from high school. I drove it for a few years before the transmission gave out. The vehicle was pure white body color. The vehicle had the benefit of being small while also have a pickup truck body. Therefore I could haul heavy things in it and still have no problems parking or storing the vehicle anywhere. The transmission went out which could have been due to previous ownership rather than an inherent defect in the vehicle.
The gas mileage was decent despite it being a truck. I felt it could have been better but I also would haul trailers with it and would drive it rough so that contributed to a lesser than expected gas mileage. The tradeoff for the size of the vehicle was that the passenger and driver compartments had limited room. Therefore if the driver is of a large frame they may want to thoroughly test drive the vehicle for comfort reasons. The cup holder was good on the vehicle and I had no problems holding my morning coffee. The lights and air conditioning and heating worked fine as well. My work materials would usually be in the bed of the truck which had plenty of room. Overall I would buy a vehicle of this make and model again but of course a newer year.
