2004 Hyundai Elantra - My 2004 Elantra
I purchased the car from my sister once the car was considered totaled due to a hail storm in Wyoming a few years back. When she had given the car to me there was some issues that needed my immediate attention. For starters the timing belt was pretty much shot, the AC didn't work, one of the windows wouldn't roll down, and sadly the car had over 200,000 miles already on it. The car hasn't let me down yet, although its getting close to retirement. I have had to replace the timing belt twice in the last 3 years, the radiator, and I was just told that I may have to rebuild the transmission now that this baby has reached 260,000 miles. The windows are all acting up now and most will not roll down, save the drivers window.

The positives of this car is that it is very roomy. There is plenty of room in the back seat and in the front. The roof is high enough for my family members that generally knock their head on the roof of most cars. The interior is easy to clean, very helpful with my 2 year old. There is a huge trunk space, I am able to pack it full every time I have moved over the last few years and was happy that 3 trips managed to get all my personal belongings and the belongings of a baby, which if you have children you know its an endless pile of stuff. The car has been mistreated pretty badly before I got her, but she has not failed me yet!
I used my car to teach my friends how to drive so they could get their DL

Large trunk space, plenty of room in the back seat and front seat for passengers, easy to clean.

Constantly having to do repairs on the car. The electrical wiring is messed up, the AC doesn't work, the windows are no longer operating properly, the transmission is going out, had to fix the radiator, had to fix the timing belt many times.

2004 Hyundai Elantra - Good midsized car for family or fun.
This car packs a huge punch. It looks like the typical midsized sedan, but she is a beast under the hood. Our car, which I named Roxy, can go from 0 to 60 faster than any car her age and size should. Don't get me started on the space in the cabin and trunk. You can smash five adults in the cabin and at least another four (three comfortably) in the trunk. It is a great car to rush to the grocery store in.

We took the car into town to grab some groceries. It was the first time I drove it. I hit the accelerator and was thrown back in my seat as she zoomed and happily growled. My drink dumped all over my husband, who was riding in the passenger seat. I wasn't expecting this car to pack such a punch.

Hands down the best thing about the car was the sheer amount of space in the trunk. The only vehicle that I have ever driven smaller than a truck that had so much space was a panel style HHR. The air conditioner works amazingly, as does the heat, and the sunroof is a welcome addition on the bright spring days. And this car is built strong too. We took a deer to the front quarter panel going 60. Minus the very obvious damage to the panel, the car acts like nothing happened. That is a reassuring thing when I have a small child.

The worst thing I can say overall about this vehicle is coming from the perspective of preferring hatchback cars. It is very wide and long in comparison so there is a decent learning curve when it comes to driving it. I enjoy the massive trunk space, but the cabin is just entirely too large. Once you get used to the size of the car though, it is a great vehicle, as long as the headlights work. With our particular car, we discovered that for whatever reason the headlights kept fritzing out. We changed bulbs and fuses and still don't have a headlight on the passenger side. Assuming you only drive during the daylight hours, it isn't a huge issue.
