I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2009. It was a very reliable car for the first 8 years. I used the car primarily to regularly drive long distances. I was driving 160 miles, round trip, five days a week to go to college. It was the perfect car for these commutes. It is comfortable, though small, perfect for a single driver. For many years the car drove very smoothly, and other than general maintenance, it required very little upkeep. Unfortunately, the car is in a state now where one thing after another is breaking down. I was expecting this car to run smoothly for a lot longer than 8 years, and I am disappointed that purchasing a brand new car does not ensure that it will last longer than even 10 years. Had I been making payments on the car, it is likely I may not have even paid ... (more)
Story
My best memory with this car was driving it back and forth to college every day. My trip was 160 miles round trip, and this car made the drive extra enjoyable. I loved driving with the windows rolled down and the XM radio blasting. It was a smooth, comfortable drive when this car was newer, and I always looked forward to it.
Pros
There are several positive things about this car. It gets excellent gas mileage. I had long commutes for many years, and the gas mileage was always the best thing about this car. It is also cute and comfortable. The exterior was black, which is my favorite color, although with black cars you constantly have to keep them clean, as dirt shows well on black. I loved that the car came with XM radio built in. I used XM for years before my car started having electrical issues, and the radio had to be disconnected to prevent the battery from draining. I liked the fact that the car was compact, as... (more)
Cons
There are several things about this car that I would change if I could. The interior of the car was beige. That is literally the worst color you could possibly pick for a car's interior when you have children. At the time of purchase, my oldest child was still an infant, but since then, I have had two other children, and my car's interior is in dire need of a deep cleaning. Stains and dirt show up really well on a beige interior. The other thing about this car that I dislike is, although it was a very reliable car for the first 8 years or so, it is now having a lot of issues. There is an i... (more)

We have owned this vehicle for most of its 90k miles. It has always performed well. Aside from maintenance, we have never had to do any major repairs on it, except when we've damaged the body of the vehicle (e.g. two accidents with other vehicles). The vehicle does not get as good of gas mileage as it did at first. At first it was up to 30 mi/gal. Now, it averages about 25 mi/gal. There is hail damage on the vehicle, but since we owned the vehicle at the time of the damage, we were able to use the insurance money to buy a business, instead of having to fix the car.
Story
When my husband and I first started a distribution route, my husband brought the delivery truck home and misjudged the space where the front of this car was. From inside the house, I hear a horrendous metal/plexiglass scraping sound, but I ignored it because of the neighborhood. My husband came in and asked me to step outside with him. We ended up staring at the bumper of our car hanging off o... (more)
Pros
This car gets good gas mileage. It has never needed any major repairs outside of maintenance that weren't our fault. It has never broken down by the side of the road. It's a lovely shade of blue that even has sparkles in it. Maintenance on it is reasonable even at a NAPA mechanic. The electronics have always worked properly with one exception.
Cons
The CD player occasionally eats a CD, believing that it doesn't have one inside when it does. This has caused us to put a second CD in, which isn't fun to get them both back out. The drop down back seats have a ring or fabric inside the trunk that doesn't allow us to use the whole pass through area. The steering wheel gets tacky/sticky in humid weather. The belts squeal when it's humid. The driver side seat didn't hold up to the wear, and has a huge rip in it.
