Good warranty, questionable quality
We purchased this car when it was six years old with 17,000 miles on it. The interior was in good shape, but there were a few dings and dents on the exterior. I'm 6'2" and 250 lbs. On long trips over three hours, the car was not comfortable at all. It had few problems at first, but they began to appear at around 40,000 miles. The brake pads wore out, then the plugs had to be changed at 45,000. I'm starting to get the feeling that the original parts weren't that great. Next the radiator developed severe leaks and needed to be replaced at 56,000 miles. The engine is running ok, but one of the transmission cooling lines developed a leak. At this point we were starting to worry about taking this car on long trips. At 70,000 miles or so, the heater core began to leak and needed to be replaced. At 82,000 miles, a lady ran a stop sign, and I hit her SUV at about 20 MPH. The air bag didn't deploy. The final straw was at 87,000 miles. The car would not pass inspection, because the passenger side airbag seat sensor failed. Cost to repair? Four weeks and $875. I would not recommend this vehicle.

Solid and dependable
I have to say that after 8 years of owning my Hyundai Elantra, I'm just as happy today as I was the day I bought it. I didn't want to buy a flashy car or anything over my budget, but instead opted for something smart and dependable that would not blow my budget and be gas friendly. The dependability of my Elantra is what has been the most impressive part to me. I've never had one issue, just basic maintenance, and that's so important to me. No hassles, no unexpected surprises, and the comfort of feeling as if I have nothing to worry about. Even though my Elantra is getting some age and miles on it, my appreciation is still very high, and I'm very happy to drive it everyday. I hope to get at least another 5 years out of it, and am very confident that I will. I feel safe in this car, I feel trust in its functionality, and I could not be any happier with the low amount of money I have had to invest in it since the day I bought it!

Love this car, always a smooth ride, ice cold air conditioning in summer and intense heat in winter. Looks great, nice colors available, best service plan and warranty.
I have owned two cars in my life, and both them have been Hyundai. One was a Hyundai Accent which was the cheapest line of Hyundai cars at that time, and the other, which I still have, is a Hyundai Elantra. In addition, my parents always drive Hyundai as well. I love the attractive design of the cars, small and without a large back end. The range of colors is very nice too; I love the charcoal color that looks purple in the sunlight. The car has ice cold air conditioning in the summer (although this needs frequent maintenance) and intense heat in the winter. I've had the car for 8 years and never broken down once (knock on wood). Although my loan payment was a bit high due to credit problems, I was able to get the loan with no problem. I walked into the Hyundai dealership and walked out the same day. I did feel a bit like I was being rolled by the salespeople however, since my knowledge about buying cars is minimal. I also traded in my old Hyundai for the new car and to be honest, the old car ran a bit smoother than the new one, but overall I am extremely satisfied with the ride. One other thing I didn't like is the emphasis that you MUST have your car serviced at a Hyundai dealership, which can be pricey. But in fact it is more easy and convenient for me to go to the dealership so in the long run it is probably worth it. And finally, when I traded in my old Hyundai which was in wonderful condition, I felt I got a bit of a raw deal for it.
