The Mazda MX5 Miata is a classic car. Some people love it, and some people hate it. But I love it. It's a manual, and my model is about as basic of a car as you can get. I love that about it. The car is fun stock, but it has lots of room for improvement. There are many websites and forums full of products for upgrading nearly every aspect of the Miata and not just for the NB. I personally have lowered the car, which made for a better center of gravity and increased ability to take fast corners. Cornering is one of the biggest appeals for Miata's, since they are tiny and have a great turn radius. However, as a daily, the car also has its flaws. On the highway, the car is insanely loud, and it revs way high at 70MPH and beyond. It's definitely not meant to be driven daily on the highways... (more)
Story
I live in a very flat state, so the car is fun to take corners on these roads. Very hilly or mountainous roads might be fairly scary in this car, because the wheels slip often if you're not careful. Once, I slid the tires as I was leaving a car show (it had just started raining). It was embarrassing.
Pros
The best things about a Miata are the cornering, personalization, and room in the engine bay. The cornering, as I said before, is one of the main attractions of a Miata. They make great track cars when built up, and even stock, they do really well on the streets. There are so many products aimed at improving Miata suspensions and transforming them into crazy fast, awesome track beasts. With as many products as are available, you can even personalize your suspension and drivetrain setups. But you can personalize nearly everything on a Miata. There are tons of people who completely alter the... (more)
Cons
Miata's have their fair share of issues. They're usually older (although, the newer ones are gorgeous, and I want one). My model is more than a decade old, so it clearly has the potential for problems due to aging. However, I have not personally encountered any major issues with the performance of my car. There are still things that I dislike. The car is obnoxiously loud on the highway, partly because it is poorly sound-proofed, and also because the car revs very, very high around 70 MPH. Although you can buy various items to soundproof your car a bit better, I doubt it will be as quiet as... (more)

My little Miata has given me years of entertainment. If you enjoy driving, this is the kind of car you should be looking for. Its not the fastest out there, but its got enough pep and thoughtful engineering to peel out from a stop, slide around a corner, or just taking a relaxing drive on a winding road. It's definitely not practical for many reasons, but if you're the only one relying on the vehicle it will serve you well!
Story
Aside from countless dates enjoying a starry moonlight drive at Americas #1 voted beaches, ive actually had the most fun putting my car to work. I managed to haul 6 2x12x14' in this tiny car. It wasnt the most comfortable thing ever, but with over 150 pounds on the windsplitter and dash, everything held up and nothing broke. This car takes anything i can throw it at and I love it!
Pros
Superb Transmission, the clutch is something of dreams Responsive steering 50/50 Weight distribution Fuel efficient for the class of car Dependable Cheap parts A large enthusiast community for aftermarket upgrades and discussions Cheap convertible options
Cons
Limited cargo/passenger space (I can still go grocery shopping and fill up my fridge with the adequate trunk space provided and bring one passenger) Not many luxury features Not suited for drivers over 6' tall (I'm 6' 0" and my head brushes the soft top when I keep it up)
