I immediately felt the quality and simplicity of the Miata the moment I got in for the test drive. I am surrounded by computers all day for work, so the minimalist console with few features appealed to me greatly. Though minimalist, it was still rather luxurious sporting supple brown leather. The car is well known for its performance. It's not the fastest, but it is lightweight and handles like a dream.
Story
Driving for a day trip to the beach with my two dachshunds. At every stop light, they would hang out the passenger window trying to get other driver's attention.
Pros
My favorite feature is the overall minimalism. It also requires barely any upkeep and has decent gas mileage. The optional hard top limits road noise drastically. Every piece of the vehicle feels high quality, especially for the price.
Cons
It is small, so not really suitable for extremely tall people. It is also a two seater so not that great for families with children. It would probably be uncomfortable for cross-country trips.

I've never been in a car more fun to drive than the MX-5. Mazda really hit it out of the park with this one. When you're obeying that 25 mph speed limit, you still feel like you're flying. When you open up on a highway -- forget about it! And for driving down winding country roads with the top down? There is no better vehicle!
Story
Driving around the Shenandoah Mountains at sunset with the top down is truly an unparalleled experience.
Pros
I really enjoy the easy maintenance of a hard-top convertible. The sense of speed is wonderful. When the top is down, there is just the right amount of wind coming in. The seats are super comfy.
Cons
The placement of the cup holders is ridiculous. You can't shift when you have a drink in them. There are few luxury appointments. Everything is quite bare boned. You have to be careful of the low clearance. Gas mileage isn't so hot.
