The 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S is a very comfortable car, peppy acceleration and very dependable build. It is a great family car as it can be had in the 4 dr model or 2 dr coupe. The styling and comfort are very spot on for 2006. The factory radio has a very nice sound and loud enough to over come road noise. Acceleration is excellent for a 4 cylinder engine. Top speed also is very good for this size of motor. The gas mileage obtained is averaged around 25 mpg. The trunk is roomy and interior is plush. Head and tail lights are very aggressive in styling and give the vehicle a very modernized look. Handling is spot on. Winter driving is also very dependable, as this car is great in the snow.
Story
Everyday driving this vehicle is fun......
Pros
Great acceleration, great factory radio, great gas mpg, aggressive styling. Handling is very responsive and is very spot on for a 4 dr family sedan. Firm seating, comfortable, adequate leg room. Very minimal blind spots, easy to drive at highway speeds.
Cons
Vehicle exterior paint is fading bad, Acceleration can be a bit punchy at times. It takes a little to get used to it. There was a major engine recall but it was taken care of when I bought the vehicle. The vehicle is very low in ride height and does not take speed bumps very well.

2006 Nissan Altima - Pleasantly surprised.

I drive a used 2006 Nissan Altima. This is my first car purchase on my own. Before this car I drove a Honda Civic and a Honda Pilot, that were not my own. I did a lot of research and was convinced I wouldn't like any other car than a Honda. This car caught my eye and after hearing that Nissan's are really good cars and last a long time with regular maintenance I went to check it out. After test driving it I had t get it because I couldn't beat the price for this car with the amount of miles on it. What I like about the car is that it is sporty, zippy, and handles well. I live and work in an Urban area and need to be able to get around easily, as well as park in tight spaces and this car is perfect for that. It does great in the city as well as on the highways. What I don't like is that... (more)
Story
A fun memory with this car is that after I bought it and was initially driving around through my city I started to pay attention to just exactly how many other 2006 Nissan Altima's are around in the area. I guess they are very popular in my city.
Pros
My favorite features (or rather feature) of the car is the body style. It is a cute car. It is attractive, but not too flashy but you could always "dress" it up or down if you like. It gets great gas mileage, I can drive on one tank of gas for about a week and a half (albeit I work pretty close to home) but I can still go out, do the shopping, pick up and drop off the kids and the gas gauge will not budge. The interior has plenty of room for my family and there is ample trunk space for shopping, etc.
Cons
The few negatives I have with this car is the lack of luxury (but I can not complain as this is the base model of the car). Also, even though this is an automatic occasionally I can feel a hard shift into first gear (?) when accelerating. It is not a problem, but it is annoying.
