The 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity- A Home Away From Home
1. The Celebrity has six feet and five inches of room in the back seat once you lower the rear seats, allowing you to sleep in the back of the station wagon. 2. The build of the car is very tight. After 18 years, the screws that hold down the travel rack on the roof started to leak when it rained because they were rusted out. 3. Gas mileage was excellent at 22 mpg. 4. I am a homeless veteran that is 6 feet and 2 inches tall. I lived in my car for 5 years and saved $32,000 in monthly rent. ($600 Per month for a one bedroom on the average). 5. The car has cruise control that still worked for the first 18 years.

Aesthetically appealing but sometimes antique feeling
I think that the style of the car is very appealing in a somewhat of a gangster and old fashion way. I like the look of the car particularly how smooth from front to back. I like how the car looks and my favorite on a car being black. The car was quite comfortable with deep seated seats and comfortable interior. While the car is spacious in a sense, it only sits 4-5 while it is a 2 door vehicle. The trunk is spacious in comparison. I did not notice any particular blind spots on the car. The car is from time to time, every 5 or so months in the shop for minor tune-ups. The gas cost is medium range in comparison to other cars. I think the maintenance and repair cost is a tad higher than newer cars as the utilities in this car are more older and wore off than those in newer cars. This car is sometimes fun to drive when it is warmed up, as it sometimes acts up in minor ways when its not. The car, for its age, still has great acceleration and handling. The cars breaks are on of the only things that's needs tune ups periodically. I for the most part feel safe while driving this car, with the exception of sometimes thinking a minor utility in the car because of age may give out.

Spacious, smooth riding and good gas mileage
I really like my 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon with 6 cylinders. In fact, someone liked it even more than me and stole it from me. I liked the car because I could put down the middle seats and then I had a bed that I could stretch out my full six foot and two inch frame. It also had rumble seats that could fit two people in the back. But I kept those maneuverable seats in the down position. By doing so the area where you would keep your feet became a secret compartment for valuables and other items. I really liked the seats because they were made out of foam cushioning. Not like those hard leather seats you see in expensive sport cars. There was no partition in the front seat or drink cup area. In this manner a woman could lay down and curl up on you, using your lap as a pillow. The car also came with a standard ski rack on top of the car. So I added a baggage container on top of the car as well that had a key lock. The tires had wire like wheels that had to be opened with a special lug. The car's styling was very user friendly. They don't make cars like that anymore that glide down the street. The car weighed around 2200 pounds. It was a light pale powder blue with a red interior. I liked the look of the car because you had five doors counting the hatchback. The hatchback gave you the option of opening the rear window without opening the fifth door. The car was really comfortable to sleep on a daily basis. I would lay a sleeping bag in the back and it gave me enough cushion against the back of the seats that I was sleeping on every night. The station wagon did not have a trunk but a secret compartment. For this reason I added the luggage holder on top of the roof of the car. There were no blind spots in this car. It was not in the shop much because I drove it like the little old lady from Pasadena. I increased the gas mileage by 15% per gallon by using nitrogen in the tires instead of air. The cost is only $20 and includes free refills for life. As you can imagine my labor costs were around $75 compared to $125 per hour for a BMW. I think the costs were fair. The car performed well in snow storms and icy roads. It was fun to drive as long as you weren't in a hurry or had a social life with the opposite sex. The car's acceleration was fine and braking was good and it handled well for a station wagon. I was always felt safe driving it because it was so heavy compared to all the plastic people drove around me.
