Sonic delivers
The 2012 Sonic is a great sub compact car by Chevrolet. The sonic comes in two engine sizes, the 1.4 turbo and the 1.8l Ecotec. The car I own has a solid 1.8 Ecotec which averages around 28-31 miles real world MPG. The sedan has a very large trunk which could probably fit three to four large suitcases. Some of the features that the LTZ has is both heated seats and heated mirrors. It also comes with an automatic start which is great for those cold days when you need to heat the car. The Sonic also comes with Sirius satellite which offers you a large amount of channels to go with your normal AM/FM radio. The Sonic also comes with OnStar for vehicle diagnostic and for emergency calls. The radio and Bluetooth features are all mounted on the steering wheel as well as the cruise control. Also included is a USB port built into the glove compartment. You can use this to plug and play MP3s from he port or slow charge your USB devices. Also in the center console is one cigarette lighter plug in. I now have 92,000 miles on this car and have had little to no problems other than wear and tear.

2012 Chevrolet Sonic - A Compact Sedan with Big Features
The Chevrolet Sonic is a great compact sedan. It has a huge roomy trunk. The car also gets 28-35 MPG. I have very few problems other than an overheating problem which took a few trips to the dealership to fix. The interior is great. It has a very spaceship/motorcycle design with great bright LEDs. It also has some high tech equipment inside, including a USB port inside the glove compartment. It has a digital HUD and CD player, as well as many other options not normally found in a sedan of this size.

Fast and fun but has design flaws.
When I bought my sonic (hatchback) I loved the look of it. It has a tiny 1.4L engine with a turbo that makes plenty of power, and the manual transmission adds to the fun. The interior is relatively spacious and comfortable, and I manage to get around 30mpg city driving. The car also has pretty good handling and braking, and is all around fun to drive. Now the downside….the car has an inherent design flaw. When shifting from 1 to 2 under hard acceleration, the transmission grinds and does not want to go into gear. This is a MAJOR problem when more speed is needed, such as when pulling onto the highway. I’ve used special transmission oil, and talked to other Sonic owners from around the country. This is apparently a common problem, and does not resolve even when the transmission is replaced. It is apparently an inherent design flaw with these vehicle’s manual transmissions. It is for this reason that I cannot recommend this car, and would not buy it again. I’m essentially stuck with a lemon of a transmission in an otherwise fun car. Also, the traction control system is extremely overbearing and robs the car of all power as soon as it senses any wheel spin. This is especially annoying when making a turn into traffic where your wheel slips slightly and you need to accelerate.
