2001 Chevrolet S-10 - Fast Gas Hog
I did enjoy my s10 extreme, I had the 4.3 Liter v6. It was super fast and felt more like a v8 engine than anything. It was a lower riding truck stick shift, lots of power. The specific extreme model was a very sporty looking truck and 3 door extended cab provided lost of space to fit 3 or four people inside the truck or outside. Although it was super fast, it also went through gas like water. Sometimes I would feel like it drop an eight a tank of gas just starting it. The back end of the truck was very light though and I found myself spinning out every time it rained, which was a pain.

I used to love reeving that engine and popping the clutch, just be careful if you are on wet roads though, because the rear of the truck is extremely light for the amount of power the rear wheels put out.

Fast, very good looking truck with a solid vortec engine with lasted me over 200,000 miles maybe more if I didn't sell it due to the horrible mpg. The vortec engine is pretty much like a small block work horse that can really take a beating a still run fine. All on 89 gas.

Working on the truck yourself can be a pain. This truck is known for the gas pump going out and boy what a pain in butt that was to take off the bed to get to the tank and whatnot. Also the alternator went quite a few times, which I am guessing is due to faulty wiring over time. Also treated gas like I was driving a v8 instead of a v6, but then again I could keep up with most v8 on the road soo...

2003 Chevrolet S-10 - Overall Satisfied
I like the build of the truck except for the drive shaft. I have had the drive shaft repaired and wish they could have built this truck with a one piece drive shaft instead of a two piece. I also have endured little oil leaks from the oil pan but nothing major. I do love the way it handles when you drive it. I like the size of the truck and wouldn't want one any bigger. Its a very comfortable truck and I think the body of the truck has lasted and stood up to lots of weather conditions in the last couple of years. I love the room it has in the bed of the truck. It allows me to bring all my aluminum cans to the scrape yard without any problems. It is plenty wide to also accommodate hauling lawn mowers and bikes. Another part of the truck I like is the keyless entry system it has it come... (more)

Overall I like Chevy trucks and will continue to do so because of the quality they have.
I am teaching my son how to drive this truck and love to see his reaction.

The roominess and handling of the vehicle. It has awesome power and a lot of storage.

It seems to have things happen underneath like the driveshaft problem and the oil leaks that I have encountered.
